Hey everyone!

i was just wondering if anyone knew which temperature is more important, the one about my lamp, or the one next to the plant. Because i have an air cooled hood , the heat from the lamp seems to be very minimal, but the temp reads sometimes 80-85. Is this a false reading because the light is shining on the thing? The area seems to be very cool when i hold my hand above the plants canopy. Please tell me if im good where im at , or if i need to make adjustments like possibly raising light, ect. thank you!

is the temp thats being read under the plant the one that matters? is this higher temp going to kill the growth of my baby : (

I have read that if it feels fine to your hand then you are good..if you can comfortably have your hand there and without feeling a need to pull away (being burnt)...I have no experience growing this is only what I have read.

The temp should be taken at the same level as the top of your plants with no light hitting the sensor, this will give you the ambient temperature which is the most accurate.

Your temperature should be taken at canopy level. I use a infrared thermometer that reads the temp of the plant material at canopy level. I try to stay below 92 degrees ambeint temps. my average is 80-83 at the top.

thanks for all the help! curious ... can the sensor be at canopy level ... just not under the light? like on the wall at the exact height of the canopy or will that be a false reading?

That is exactly where you want it, just make sure you have good circulation to avoid pockets of hot/cool air.
