I personally like the best of both worlds. I used to have a hotbox vape, I'd put the whip (the part you smoke from) into the bong downstem and inhale. Works great. I think that bongs give you more smoke, lower down into unused parts of the lung compared to just straight smoking it out of the vape or joint. So its just as good as the vape regardless of the percents
