My plant in the ground is gettin pretty tall how can I stop it. When can u "top" it off????

Pics would be very helpful. You can top the plant as soon as the first true node is showing. I wait till i have at least 2 full nodes before topping.

you can top at first node from a seedling, so when ever you would like
