quick yielding methods? (autos, short vegging)

So im plotting on some little grow in a either 4 x 4 or 3 x 3.. what im really trying to get at here is what would some of your opinions be on say..

Auto flowering plants
Starting 12/12 from seed
short 2 week veg in a SOG set up

Most likely will be using organic nutrients mostly based off the super soil I will be making.
Im really trying to find the best niche for me and before I get down and try all the techs out I wanted to know if anyone cared to share some knowledge from the experiences theyve encountered.
Im looking for something that will yield a decent amount fast.... sounds nooby and im sorry about that. :)

Very high quality lighting is the biggest factor if you pick a short flowerring strain
Sorry I forgot to mention that.

I will be working with a 600w mh/hps, might eventually add fluorescent bulbs on the sides or some angle to help. Maybe even LED ufo's. For now im aiming towards the mh/hps.

Rooted clones to 12/12 would be the best option. If you have some time you can grow out a mother plant to take clones from and then just line up a bunch of solo cup with super soil and let em go.
Goodlooks really is the best option I'll need more cash for another light like a t5 or something in that nature to grow her. It is my main direction. I think as of now im going to do a quick run with some decent autos and keep what I get from there in the safe and work towards that set up.. hopefully yield is ideal, really appreciate the words and time!

Well

you can use autos to make up extra yield like if your doing a long veg throw in some autos they will crop they you can flip the regs to flower

or I like to start some autos in my veg area and use them to take up any spaces or throw them outside to finish up

some people don`t have a 2nd veg room

so they pop some autos 2 to 6 weeks before their main crop will finish and run them in the room while they veg up some regs it can get you an extra crop each run but it can cost you some space if you get it wrong

some autos are prone to being tiny and not growing

Good lights matter

Taking clones from a mum can speed things up, as bad genetics can slow down a grow or mess up yield and taste

Good air flow, good lights, feed them right

Also more plants can mean a lot less veg is needed so you could split it and flower off 2 or even 4 shelfs of much smaller plants but that can be a lot more work and hassle

I like a 4 to 12 week veg in 8 to 20L pots then they go into 30 to 60L sacks and I flower them up

If there good genetics then taking the time to get the most out of them is worth more than trying to rush them, rush like 100 to 1000 plants till you find a gem to clone off or some seeds that give you plants that are 100% worth growing

wasted time and crappy plants that don`t have the ability to make fat buds or smell nice this is what costs people yield and time also bugs and mold stuff like that

plus make it easy to get the water to your plants, the more time you save the more plants you have time to grow :)

For now Im probably going to go hard with some autos in a tent and then work towards Having a extra room for 2 moms and little babies, I have a small cribbo so im thinking 3 x 3 next to my bed lol and a 2 x 4 or 2 x 2 in my closet with a bonsai mom or something... sounds crazy but yeah im really trying to figure out how to pump pack without a problem in a small space... but really not tryna do small micro PC grows.. im aiming towards double digit Jamaican strippers (zips) lol dont know why I added thay. But thanks for all the words man I appreciate people like you!

As far as nutes im kinda iffy...
I really want to go all organic so I can see how a AF plant will run with nonsynthetic nutes but will I really be able to expect decent yields? Every journal I run into using AF seeds use Advanced Nutrients and other brands and it makes me wonder and feel intimidated that my sweet ones wont be able to look like soda cans! I know im probably wrong but anyone know any other entry level techniques and little recipes in the organi field other than super soil and your normal molasses... what else is out there?

Auto`s run pretty well with organic soil mixes

I think someone said use oyster flour as it breaks down faster some of the crab and fish based stuff takes too long to brake down for autos

I would start them inside and plant them outside between node 4 and 8, auto`s are better to pot up outside before they start flowering that is if the days are longer than 10 hours then its best to get them as big as you can during veg

lower light levels for long days strange but 5000k cfl lights seem very well suited for vegging autos for outside I would not normally tell someone to use cfl`s but them or low power leds work well for vegging autos

its about getting them as big as you can with out them flowering as by 2ft high most of them flower and you don`t often see an auto over 4ft but my main experience is with indica dom auto`s

I would hope sativa dom auto`s would veg up more and get bigger like 4ft to 10ft outside in a big pot but who can say for sure

In my experience with organics it takes awhile before you get out what you put in. You need to provide all they need in their final pot size to get through bloom phase & that means you've got to recycle the soil a few times before most dry amendments break down & become available to the plants. It gets better with age. Building a truly organic mix takes time & the best way is to keep using it & recharging it over and over. You need to transplant up a few times and train your plants to get bushy tight nodes that produce a lot of bud sites. At the same time using nutrients in and of themselves will not give you yields; that is governed by your wattage and amount of training that was done before the flip.
You say you want soda can size buds yet you don't want to spend a lot of time vegging them out. It takes 9-11 weeks to finish mj flowers on the planet earth. That goes for autos too. To get decent yields you need to spend time training your plants. That could take another 6 weeks or more from seed; less for autos. The only way to get a faster turnaround is to use clones from a perpetual mother you keep in veg indefinitely.
I suggest a good organic garden soil to begin with and then add extra perlite, fresh worm castings and a N input like chicken or cow manure. Save your nutrients to be used as needed later in the grow during late veg and early to mid flowering when they need it the most. Give just plain water & add cal/mag if you use RO or reclaimed water. Then recycle the root ball in a tote bin after each harvest & add amendments to recharge it. Learn all you can about organics in the meantime check out the organic section for a wealth of good info. Learn about making compost teas and eventually you can get off the nutrients altogether. Don't be afraid to top your plant several times to desired bushiness; this is the key to beer can size buds.

You aren't going to be able to choose how long you veg with autos, they flower when they decide to. However a couple things with autos

Using smaller pots generally causes them to flower sooner, I gallon hempy works great.

Using smaller pots generally they will finish a bit faster as well.

Would potting a more bloom mix at the bottom and veg mix at the top be a good idea rather than transplanting? Winters coming so im doing it indoor facts... thanks for all the words it was a good read! :)

Now im really debating if I should say fuck it and pack the tent with 6 or 8 not to much but enough to do some type of sog effect but this is all brainstorming before I get on the horse. Was even thinking of doing hydro because my soil recipe was going up to 150$ but building. RDWC system really seems like a bitch and not fun, so soil just might be it. For now im thinking super light organic veg soil mix up at the top and a bloom mix towards the bottom maybe a even veg and early bloom mix towards the middle. Im already throwing around 5 bills on my set that just gives me tent and hood and ventilation stuff.. still need pots and my medium and nutes If im to use them.

Shit 3 babies in a 5 gallon system? 3 5 gallon buckets or something..

anybody have any sets they can share with me that are kinda similar?

Don't make this more expensive or complex than it needs to be. Bloom mix veg mix...that's too difficult...just use the same mix for everything. Give them all they need for the entire grow cycle in the mix when you build it & just go to a bigger pot with fresh mix as they get closer to their final pot. The only thing I do differently when transplanting to the final pot size they will be flowered in is to add a high N layer at the bottom to keep them nice & green through to harvest. Alotta folks might disagree but this works for me: when I build a TLO pot for bloom phase I use at least a 7g or up to a 10g smart pot; then I add 2 shovels of recycled soil and a handful of composted chicken manure plus a handful of bat guano & mix it in...then a sprinkle of crushed oyster shell flour in top to regulate ph. Then a layer of soil and a sprinkle of mycorizzea and add my plant in & cover with more soil. I like to top it off with some DE and fresh EWC and then mulch with straw and pine bark nuggets, but that's just me.
You say you are looking at spending $150 on soil & I say fuck build-a-soil and their like. You don't have to spend a fuckload on dirt; you can use any decent garden soil and build on that. I started out with a few bags of FFOF and some sunshine mix #4...spent maybe $50 to get started and just kept recycling it and adding dry amendments. The key is compost though; if you decide to go organic your money is better spent on a worm factory and dry amendments that will literally last you for years. Compost is easily overlooked but the most important part of an organic growers arsenal. You actually don't need nutes at all if you just add in what is depleted after a harvest and add compost to drive it all; that's what recharges the soil and drives super naturally healthy plants. It does take a few recycles to get your mix up to supernaturally active status and time to cook all the goodies in but once you do it's set it and forget it. Just be sure to source clean water; that's super important in organics.

Spend the extra time to veg properly. It more than pays for itself yield wise. A 6 week veg over a 4 week veg could double your yield for eg.
So my advice would be to forget about a quick return and go for a great return. It will be worth while.

My soil recipe is cheap and easy. Some good quality kelp based potting mix, mushroom compost, chicken manure, ash and coals, epsom salt, perlite and some dynamic lifter. I also throw in some time release ferts but i wouldn't recommend everybody does. Remember a Bag of compost lasts quiet awhile as you dont use allot per pot, Just a handful or two per Gallon pot approx.

You really kick ass spending the time to shoot me some advice man goodlooks! Yeah I just might go soil it sounds more universal and practical. Im just thinking way to much before I make my play, im still over here debating autos vs photos. Thanks for info tho

The universe sent you to tell me to use photos... im really debating and leaning towards that way.. I just feel like in my 3 x 3 space I can yield more off autos. Whats your space like? I think I can do 4 in the 3 x 3 and top them twice and do a SOG tent and go with that 6 week veg... whats your yield usual yield if you care to tell me ? :)

I will probably start building my soil this weekend and I guess fuck it guys im going to go with the photos... Im a big picture type of guy and I see a bigger picture with these guys.. sorry for bouncing around the walls with you all but I appreciate all the words! Now I just have to think of a good way to start building a nice soil to "cook" while I save up fpr the rest of the kit.. might take a month or so, so maybe thats enough time toget the microbes in the soil to get active.. Now I just need help on seeds... thinking good old TGA since they have a good rep.. but another thing is what should I first throw in my soil? I might just rip off some items off some of your guy's recipe if thats cool with you all! Im going to look around at seeds :)
