R O water...zero PPM

yo been reading up on R O filtration systems.

for those who pay for their own water may find this very interesting

R O filtration systems waste serious amounts of water.

about 2/3 of the water it uses to make 0 ppm water.

For example: one gallon of water 70% of that 1 gallon is discharged into your sinks drain.

so to make 100 gallons for R O water your actually using about 300 gallons of water to get 100 gallons of pure water... don't believe me look it up.

what i did find that is an awesome fucking R O maker thats not a piece of shit or a gimmick.

its called Zer000 water filtration system form Home depot. the starter kit is $89.00. (starter kit as in needs a base to hold the water to pour into a cup...keep reading :hump:)

thats the same price of a R O system from ebay with shipping. used or new who knows really with ebay.

this zero water system is fucking sick. makes up to 5 gallons of ZERO ppm water in just a few mins with out any waste water at all.

just tested this thing with a 120 dollar TDS meter an this fucking thing is lagit. In a 5 gallon Home depot buck not cleaned .2-.3 ppm. FUCK YEA!

Also the Zero water system comes with a cheap TDS meter. so for $89.00. u can get cheap clean ass water with a TDS meter. no shipping or waiting time. you get it on the spot.

i took a 5 gallon bucket with a lid cut the lid out to hold the filter system so im not going to buy the base thats made for the system to pour the water out into a cup. also could use a big igloo container that you see at football games to plop the filter sytem onto.

they also have a 1 gallon or a half gallon pitcher you can grab for 40 bucks

if this thing has been mentioned then sorry to waste time. if not i hope you guys find this helpfull... im so fucking happy right now!!!!!

heres the link to their site.Zero Water

GROW ON GUYS!!!!:hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump:

And every 90gals of water you make, you get to spend another $56+tax on more filters. Whats that? $.62 a gallon...sounds not so smart to my old brain. :-?

If you personally think you are wasting water with an RO or an RO/DI system, then you need to read some more. The "waste" line can be used for many productive things, like watering house and outdoor veg gardens, washing clothes, pets, cars, etc. That will make you feel much better if you still believe you can waste water.

The earth is a closed system, water can't be wasted, only used less efficiently. We drink dinasour pee today, the earth is a fantastic filter.

Making your own RO water should run you about $.05-.08 cents a gallon depending on your municipalities cost. Thats over a year, with replacement filter cost already in the equation. And you can make thousands of gallons.

What? I'm drinking dinosaur pee???

 Mmmm.. pissy. :D

Roulette, I am intrigued. It's well known that there is "waste" water with reverse osmosis, it's one of the reasons why I won't be trying to go that way (that, plus I really don't think Mary needs zero ppm water). But I've noticed that one of the thread tags says "distilled", and from all my own research and water knowledge distillation is the only method by which water is purified and can be claimed to be purified. Not so with any type of filtration.

Now, to the meat of the matter, how well does it work? And how do you like it? I've sort of cabbaged a Mr. Clean carwash system ionizing filter, and besides the fact that it's ghetto and a bit leaky, I like it. Filtered water on demand, no need to store it.

read quite a bit about it.Um... also a 10 yr experience plumber that installed R O under sinks/ water softners an more... Thanks

anyways

An what i mean as in waste water , the typical R O system has a tapping that goes under your kitchen sink into a dishwasher tail piece or in to a straight tail piece that comes right off of the filter set up/ membrane.

so the water it actually discharges cant be used for what you where listing like watering the garden an such. UNLESS your catching the "waste" water into a bucket an are going to hand feed/wash things.

dont know about you but i wasnt planning on doing that with the R O i was looking at... an im sure your not doing that or have plans to.

but you are right earth is a revolving filter its not really waste water in the sense its gone for ever. but when you pay for water by the cubic foot an some people actually have to pay for sewer thats off of the cubic usage of water ( for example: 10 bux for 2000 cubic feet add another 3 bucks to that, thats the sewer charge. they figure water goes in water comes out.)

so in short it waste your money. but so doesnt filters for a system. but like the company says "when the PPM reads .6 time to change the filter"
im not going to cause i dont see the need. maybe once its putting out .20 ppm i will.

read alot about this, this is the best system that uses every drop of water you add.

an im sure their figuring in the "waste" water it discharges to the amount its costing per gallon... nope their going by each gallon it made. not including "waste" water

works awesome no complaints what so ever. i also seen that mr clean homemade filter set up. lol seemed pretty cool but could be a waste of time.

It's actually turning out to be a fantastic solution for me. Since we're on a well our biggest issue is with dissolved solids and minerals, no chlorine or municipal treatment issues, and the well is SO deep that microbe counts are extremely low, if there are any microbes at all (I'd have to dig up the well report).

Just a note, .60ppm is more than .20ppm.
