Raise my lights?

Hi guys,

Ive got a gavita 1000w over my plants at about 36” from the canopy but the buds aren’t quite as frosty as I’d like for day 32 of 12/12 even though they’re an acceptable size.

it’s 28/29c with the lights on

my question is, should I raise the lights to allow a cooler canopy or will the lumens etc getting to the plant at this height outweigh the fact it’s a little too hot?

thanks in advance

Providing the plants with less light will not increase trichome production. Additional light will actually provide better trichome production along with good nutrition and controlled environment.

Personally I let my 1000W DE HPS run about 24" from my canopy with no issues or bleaching. Usually bleaching of buds occurs in the 18-20" range.. At least for my genetics I'm running the last couple years.

If anything more light will produce more frost you will not get good resin/"frost" production with less light / higher distances from the plants.

Reading through your temps are a bit high in my opinion. High temperatures will almost always cause a more "greasy" bud with less crispy frosty trichomes. I would try to drop the temp to 78-80 F ambient lights on.

Unfortunately dropping the temps is not possible via aircon etc. I could knock them down to 600w but surely that would hinder my growth/frost too?

I can keep a cooler canopy with the lights raised higher than 36” but any lower than that the temp will raise over 30c

Tuning down the fixtures is going to certainly reduce your yield. The point here is more light = more bud & more trichomes. If you don't have lots of frost thats just genetics. Look for another plant perhaps?

I've seen plants grow better that are not directly under lights... I have one right now in the veg room that has the plant growths twirling around, I love seeing that.

Are the lower budsites frozy?
