Well, i was reading a thread about micro plant growing in super small places.

I looked over and seen my tv stand just sitting there and decided to try something.

This is what i came up with so far.

Normal tv stand.

The grow light i mounted inside.

The hole i ran the wire through.

What it looked like when i tested the light.

Finally, The results i came up with.

Do you think this would make a good grow place for a beginner?

Also, give me some ideas of what else to do to this thing.

Your going to probaly need more lights in there and would be smart to get a fan for circulation since your going to cover it up like that.

Excellent!!! But the walls should be painted or plasterd white also seal all light leaks!!! You will need two fans (import air and export air) wood holds heat welll and you dont want your plants to burn also what kind of lights are those????

Go to home depot and look for two foot two bulb t-5 fixtures. They are made by lithonia lighting and they come with the bulbs. Get a few of those and an exhaust fan and you will be good to go

thats just a fluorescent grow light.

(not just a light, its a real grow light)

i got the 2 fans but do not have a saw to cut the holes for them yet.

as for the inside im going to be putting
aluminum tape on the top along with the
grow light to produce more light.

also i have the idea of aluminum tape on the
bottom too so maybe the light will reflect and shine on the bottom half of the plants too???

and of course the walls are all going to be white

That light sucks balls dude, it is a newbie mistake to buy the purple tube that says grow light. It is junk but we have all been there. You should get regular tube lights or CFL's

i would buy 3 more 2 foot t5s and do 3 plants in that little baby.

just throw some tinfoil up (or mylar).....or paint it flat white for $15, throw up atleast 150 actual watts (or 100~from T5's) of floro's and watch the babies grow.

results were good but i believe it was more of a pain in the ass then it should have been

what im hoping for here is that since the space is so small my plants will grow better
with just this light rather then being in a bigger space with just this light.

you see what i mean?

There is no way that your plants grew good in a big space with only that light. You need more light, if you are not willing to add more to the grow than stop now. Once again that light is not good enough for an entire grow let alone seedling stage

he's right decks . i thought that just enough light is good. but it doesnt hurt to have more light man. if you want a quality harvest you should have everthing and more for your plant. if your low on cash then wait till you can invest in this project. peace man

Listen to what is being said... we've all made mistakes. Get as much light in there as possible. The 2ft 2bulb t5s at home depot are excellent (only 20$ a piece and they come with the bulbs). Get yourself atleast 2... preferably 4 and make sure the inside of that thing is reflective and you'll have yourself some excellent buds. That light you have now will do almost nothing, just listen to us and save yourself a few months of hastle... the extra 40-80$ will definitely be worth it.

I have updated the grow box due to a few small problems.

The inside of the box was too dark and did not let the light reflect as bright as it should.

I have added aluminum to the walls, mounted a ps3 fan on the wall, closed in the front of the box and added a door.

Its actually looking very promising so after
my seeds germinate i will keep a grow log
to show how its working.

Aluminum foil is a bad idea, it is going to keep the heat in the box and burn the plants due to hot spots. Paint the walls white or get black and white poly plastic

Do you have a P/N for these? I can't find them online....

They weren't listed online for me either but they had a bunch of them at the store. I just went to the aisle with all the tube lighting (was in the far back at my local store...) and looked for the two bulb t-5 light. It should have the light hung above the shelves and what not and the price tag near it will say t-5 2 bulb blah blah lol. I know that it was made by lithonia lighting brand.

Edit: I just looked at might light and it is Lithonia Lighting brand model# MNS5214LP
Here's a link to another site so you can see the light. This site is selling it for 40 but I got mine for 20 and change at my HD

i actually just thought about that a little
earlier but didnt know what to do about it.

im going to lowes tomorrow to buy some
sheets of white plastic and some trim to go
with it to use as a seal (plus its stylish)

and im guessing if im going to seal it i should
probably get some silicone?

Go to home depot and pick up a few of the lights that I posted in my last post. They are around 20 bucks and will greatly increase the light intensity inside that cab
