Random thought I had about the flowering period

Does the flowering period actually start after the stretch is over or is just a genetics thing and varies from pheno to pheno? I just had this random thought I had becuase I have a blue cheese plant thats supposed to finish at 55-65 days and this Thursday was week 8 so I decided to let it go one more. Today I also checked the thc color on buds and were barely stsrting to get milky, anyone have similar experiences?

I would recommend when changing to flower try take time down gradually and stop at 13hrs fo a week, then after a week gradually drop to 12/12.
Im no pro but from doing that I have had great results with flowering time finish.
I only been growing for a year but that's what I found from doing, it's one of my tricks
But answering your question all plants have different time to finish and all depends on the environment.

If perfect for the plant you find things will nearly run same as breeder.

If you have messed up somewhere along the line it slows / speeds the plants finishing time.

But you can force finish by lowering the timer if you are in a rush,

I find time plays a big role in growing you just gotta find the sweet spot.... Just (imho) others will say different.

In my flowering room I use 11.30 on its not to save electric I just find that hours for flowering helps them finish around 8 or earlier so I chop. But my environment could have something to do with it I don't know but I tried flowering on 12.30hrs on,12.00hrson and 11 hrs on but the best so far is 11.30 on for my flowering room.

There are three physiological developments that must occur in order for "flowering" to take place: firstly, the plant must pass from sexual immaturity into a sexually mature state (i.e. a transition towards flowering); secondly, the transformation of the apical meristem function from a vegetative meristem into a floral meristem or inflorescence, this is all visible once you can see sex appear on the plant.. An external stimulus is then required in order to trigger the differentiation of the meristem into a flower. This stimulus will activate mitotic cell division in the meristem, particularly on its sides where new primordia are formed. This same stimulus will also cause the meristem to follow a developmental pattern that will lead to the floral growth..

Flowering starts with the switch to 12/12 on a mature plant or the critical period length governed by genetics, a plant could flower with 20/4 as some autos do...it does not have to have flowers to be flowering..once its on 12/12 its technically flowering with the build up of hormones, which build up the very first night..the point of observing flowers from flip is different on different strains and cannot be used to give an estimated and generalized flower time with the varying cannabis plants, especially outdoors.

a 12/12 from seed you have to wait for that plant to mature, also depends on genetics but about 3 weeks..

If it doesnt match breeder times that may be on you, they probly have More experience a more controlled environment and very possibly they give the time of the fastest in the batch as is common when giving an estimated cannabinoid content

Once it hits 12/12 its flowering. the hormones have built up really after about 10hrs on most plants, like i said depending genetics. Your now just waiting for the plant to do its thing and keep growing. Once hormones have built from the flip, the 12hrs. they are then destroyed by light the following day, and another 12 the following night builds that hormone up to levels flowering requires again. Doing this succesively creates the "flower" growth..

So I guess the week of 13hrs that I do prepares the plant to pre flower, so on day three/four on 12/12 I have flowers/budds develop.
