Rate my Dirt

Okay so I've been growing in FFOF, and I'd like to cut it a bit so it's not so hot. I live in Indiana where we grow a lot of corn. I've attached a picture of dirt from my back yard,(I know nothing abouIMG_20200524_105514329_HDR.jpgt dirt and what makes it good quality, lol). My question is, can I use this dirt to cut my FFOF? If not, what can I use? I have a bunch of Humboldt's secret that I'm dying to use, but I don't want to burn my babies. Thanks in advance!

Use inert media to cut dirt. If you use outside dirt oven fire it first and provide more aeration to it.

Yup coco, peat, pumice, rice hulls (not inert but good), hydroton. If your new to coco don't use it until you get some growing under your belt it can be problematic for new growers

Okay thanks! I was considering using Coco loco by fox farms but I haven't done much research on it yet, I will definitely keep looking

Why do you say OF is HOT?

I use it from time to time as my starter soil - For clones and rooted seedlings (in Root Riots).
I have never had an issue with it...

If you're growing directly in the ground you can mix it all up. Many outdoor growers do it that way. I wouldn't mix it and put it in a pot.

I've heard a lot of people say it is hot, or at least hot enough that you can't add extra nutrients. I haven't added anything except golden tree to the older seedlings

It's a 28-30 day feeder.....I usually start some sort of feed after 2 weeks in solo cups....

That makes me feel a lot better then, sounds like I should at least be able to use my nutes for flowering if nothing else. I've got Sweet and Sticky from Humboldt's Secret and I've heard really good things about it, I'm hoping to get some really sticky nugs
