i got some cuttings from a friend, put them into net pots and kept them ticking over in an aeroponics set up under a 400 or 600 light, not to sure what it was but everything was running ok, temps, heat, you know the shit. anyway while i was building my rdwc system (6 x 100 litre totes with the 7th used as a res) i needed to use the 2 pumps i was using in the aero to try out the system for the leaks and that kind of stuff. the roots in the aero system where in the nutes so i thought it would be alright. when i finally got them into my all singing and all dancing room, the fuckers have root rot. (well the roots are brown but no slim onb and dont really smell. im using gh micro and house and garden roots excellerator and i have a feeling they both might be tiurning the roots brown anyway coz of how conecntrated they both......... but i deffo know its some kind of root rot coz of leave deficentcies ect)

what i have done is as follows...... dumped my mix of lucas formual, root excel and cal-mag.... which yesterday through some h2o2 in the mix to try and sort out the roots(EC 0.7) ph 5.8...... i then refilled with just house and gardens roots excellerator (EC 0.3) (ph 6.0)

2 days later got fed up and cut all roots off 1-2 inches below net pots hahaha. then just stuck 2 GSC seedlings in with the cheese and hope the cheese recovers while the GSC catch up.

pics of room and plants to follow......

oh yeah, the area of the scrog is 2m x 3m.... and the grey shit in the net pots with the seedlings is just ripped up insullation foam hahahaha. had no clay balls so just went with that coz id already been to get some nutes once today and couldnt be arsed going back. lazy i know, but i cant see why it wont work. it dont hold mosture and the roots are going to drop into the res right hahahaha?

The best shit in the world for healthy roots is a Tea.

I use Mollasses, Plant Success Soluble, and some Floraliscious+

About 2 table spoons of Molasses, 1 scoop of Plant Success, and 5ml's of Floraliscious +

Here's some more on it.

I don't use worm castings in my teas.
You CAN get fungus Gnats, and aphids, I don't care what ANYONE says.

Peace.

That picture of the grow room with the wye running up to the two rows of cool tubes looks like a fucking flux capacitor! Love the setup man, looks like it's been setup by someone who knows what they're doing. Love the carbon srcubber runnin inline with the cool tubes, thats the way to do it. You have another scrubber on the other row too? Man I love my 4x4 tent but if I had the kinda space you're working with I'd be in heaven. Anyway, everything looks great, looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. You have the nutria-dip as well huh? Model 204 is the one that measures ec rather than ppm. I have the 202 which does ppm and I love it, it's a must have for a serious RDWC like you've got going on.

I'll turn the lights off and put the main light on next time DJ, does look shit with the lines through the pics

Tav I'm defo looking at it, thanks for the link.

Dsa.... Hahaha it took me a while to set up on a one man mission. There is a galv cable tray fixed to the roof and a slightly larger one hanging from that which is holding the 8inch fan, 3 cool tubes and a carbon filter on which can all be rasied and lowered to the right hight. And yeah there is a carbon on each run mate. You think that's a bit too much? I was worried about the smell during the last few weeks.

Oh yeah the tri metre is awsome! It messed me up a little working out what the reading on the screen was hahaha. But think I've got this EC down now. So when it says (let's say for instance 500ppm on yours, what's that on mine in EC?) This .5 .7 convertion is messing me up. So when I read yours on your journal I'm getting it right down my end hahaha.

Right!! The root rot shit has really pissed me off now. Tonight I'm going to take out the GSC before they end up getting it and going to veg them under a 150 watt cfl and take cuttings off them for my next grow. As for now I'm throwing the cheese in the bin, cleaning out the system and room completely and getting some 24 cuttings on wednesday and turning it into a 24 plant cheese scrog!! What can possibly go wrong?? Hahahaha. Think I got my eye on the ball now hopefully.

That's totally awesome that you've got two inline carbon scrubbers running, I don't think you're gonna have to worry about any odor issues with a setup like that! Good to hear that you've got a plan of action, it probably a good thing as you would have likely had reduced yields had the girls with the root rot recovered. You're better off starting fresh and making sure everything is done as perfectly as can be, I think you'll be happy you made that decision, even though it does push harvest time back.

So I'm attaching a chart that will be useful to you in converting EC to ppm. I believe that my model 202 which measures ppm has a conversion factor of .5, however, your meter model 204 has a conversion factor of .7. So, if you want to convert my ppm levels to your EC scale you would take the ppm and divide it by 700. I am currently running at 940 ppm which would equate to an EC of 1.34 on your meter. Hope this helps!

right i think i get it hahaha. so on my 204 it would read 1340. and that is your ppm on your metre of 0940. i see that you say that dividing 700 gives me my ppm...... im confused coz i thought mine messured in EC as standard on the screen??? think i might have to look at the model online before i over or under feed my little ones. just gave them (an on screen reading of 0540) which i though was EC. and if i want yours i multiply .5????

Well your 204 wouldn't read 1340 because thats the ppm scale. According to the chart if you were at 1340 ppm it would be an EC of around 1.9. So converting from your EC scale you would want to multiply by 700. 700x1.9=1,330. If your meter is currently reading 0540 which I assume to mean 0.540 EC simply multiply 0.540x700=378 ppm.

To be completely honest though, the more I'm thinking about the cross conversion from my meter to yours, I'm not 100% sure. It would stand to reason that if I wanted to know MY ec, I would simply divide by 500, because I am on the .5 scale. However, since you are on the .7 scale, an ec of say 1.8 which for me would be 900 ppm would be a ppm of 1260 for you. So now that I'm thinking about it maybe it is that simple, if you want to convert my ppm to your ec simply divide by 700. Anyway, you might want to just give the manufacturer of the nutria-dip meter a call and ask them, they'd be able to give you definitive answer. Can't wait to see your setup up and running! Get some pics up so we can all see that glorious setup!

i think i will have to find out for sure. my understanding was my 204 reads EC. and EC is EC no matter what. the convertion of .5 or .7 is to get a ppm reading to my EC. if your on .5 then thats your reading to my EC reading.........
well i assume that my 0540 is 0.54 EC which should be fine for the clones.
they should just make one model, one reading, then everyone is singing off the same fucking song sheet.
