im a newbie.first grow and im doing rdwc. so far so good. haven't really had any issues other than cal deficiency.so im needing some info on when to do my final flush.do i wait til i see amber trikes or do i start the final flush sooner .and my other question is how long should i flush in rdwc?

Grower preference. Some people flush 3 days prior, some do one week prior, and some believe in not flushing at all. You'll have to see which gives you the better smoke. For my first serious grow, I'm increasing flowering nutes til week 6, backing off slowly, and flushing for the last week which will probably be around when some of the trichomes are cloudy.

YEAH THATS WHAT I WAS GONNA GO WITH .JUST DIDNT WANT TO WAIT TOO LATE AND END UP WITH A BUNCH OF COUCHLOCK

@Renfro is the guy to ask.
Am I a plumber now? lol. You know my take on flushing, it's for toilets.

When ripening plants I am a believer of a proper ripening feed. Low in Nitrogen, but still plenty of potassium, sulfur and such as these are key for terpene building. We want really terpy bud. Flushing the plants with plain water, especially in hydro, will starve your plant of key elements during the most important time in it's life, ripening. We don't want to do all this work growing a plant and then yank the rug out from under it at the end.

My ripening feed would be a lower PPM than my mid flower feed. I feed all the way to the chop.

Some elements we wish to have present for terpene production:

Potassium
Sulfur (this is very much a valued element)
Chlorine (small amounts of chlorine go a long ways for terpene production, Potassium Chloride is my friend, two elements for the price of one lol)

Elements that you want to avoid having in quantity during ripening would include Nitrogen and Phosphorous. These can cause harsh flower, this is what we want to avoid. Too much nitrogen can also promote fox tailing during later flower.

There are a million different ways to grow weed, this is mine and it has served me well. The few times I have tried flushing I was less than pleased.

Yes sir I know your take but I don’t do DWC so I didn’t want to mess up the explanation

If using GH Lucas or 3 part how do you increase the potassium without the phosphorus?

This is when tailoring your feed with a little dry salt is handy. Simply grab some KCl (potassium chloride).

For reference I ran the #'s for 1 gram per gallon of KCl

K: 115 mg/l
Cl: 125.6 mg/l

Obviously we won't use that much in our mix but this gives you the numbers to work from.

I find that the greenway brand of dry salts is better than the alpha. The Alpha tends to be cloudy but it will work fine. You could let the cloudy stuff settle out if you wish.

Also the KCl can be used to make your own pH probe storage solution saving money there.

A stirring plate is handy for dissolving dry salts. Set a mason jar on it with some h2o and your weighed salt. Let it spin and do it's magic while you do other chores. When it's done mixing simply flip the jar and the stirring magnet will stick to the mason jar lid.

@Mook1973 just a heads up, when you tag someone with the "@" in front of their name they will get a notification. This is a handy feature on this forum, just figured I would share that with you.

I hope you are very happy with your crop and remember, never stop learning! Peace out. Ren

All good buddy. Just figured it would save you tracking down users profiles to post on them.

And please, try to refrain from using all caps, it's considered yelling and it's hard on the eyes.

Happy medicating! :bigjoint:
