rDWC getting worse

minor update,

air temp - 81° (+11°) (Oil filled radiant heater set on 81)
humidity - 70% (-20%)

can you drop it to like 60%?
Should drop quickly now that the heater is in there. Res is sweeting like crazy due to the 11 degree jump in a short time. Would love to move res out, but not this grow. I'll open the tent and let air out as needed to get it down in the 60s.

Thanks to all for the advice, really appreciate the time and expertise.

glad i could help.

and i wouldn't spray the leaves anymore either. let the roots do the work.

Looks like they are drinking again!! Went down to check in and the sound of the air stones in the res alerted me to the lower level. Added 4 gallons of water I took out during refill (too much).

Levels are pretty much the same.

ph - 6.15 (+.09)
ppm - 93 (+8 )
ec - 191 (+11)
air temp - 84 (+3) (lights at 50%, still getting slight tip burn if higher)
humidity - 62% (- 8 )
water temp - 67 (+1)
water level - falling :D

When, and at what levels should I add nuts back? I usually use Fox Farm Hydro, root magic, and hydroguard.

I use two of these for a supplemental heater and carbon filter exhaust to help cool. Kind of helps "automate", and not rely solely on temp gauge of heater... Works pretty good and regulates where i want the environment to be.

This is confusing, 1 EC = 500 ppm.

ppm - 93 (+8 )
ec - 191 (+11)

This is confusing, 1 EC = 500 ppm.
From what I have read, and someone correct me if I'm wrong please, there a two ways to measure EC us/cm and ms
  • Often the literature will use microSiemens (uS/cm) and EC standing for electrical conductivity. These two units are the same. To convert milliSiemens (mS) to EC's or uS multiply the reading by 1000. The meter in the diagram shows 1.65 mS which is 1650 uS or EC's.

My meter uses us/cm, so 191uS/cm = .191mS * 500 = 95.5ppm Closer but not same, true. I just learned the equation. Again I could be be wrong and happily educated if I am.

That's a great chart, but only if you convert a microSiemen (uS/cm) reading to milliSiemens (mS/cm), 1000/1.

I have a new meter coming since my crappy PH pen blew out with all this testing. It will give both uS and mS, so I'll post in mS from now on.

Today was less then ideal. I was hoping for bigger water drop this morning, but did not see much dif.

ph - ?.?? (meter died)
ppm - 94 (+1 )
ec - 0.197 (+.006)
air temp - 82 (-2) (lights at 50%, still getting slight tip burn if higher)
humidity - 68% (+ 6 )
water temp - 68 (+1)
water level - SLOWLLLLLLY falling :(

Also have some GH flora series on the way, and will start with a small dose.

I use an apera device which come standard using the 710 scale , but I have changed mine to 500 , as I feel more people use it.

i usually post with an ec also so anyone could break it down.

Good luck with the grow.

Your food is way too low, .2 EC is my tap water. You should be around 1 EC

I have use the same unit , just make sure that’s what you get . Sent me the cheaper one and had to return and source elsewhere.

Comes with laminated cards to hold your hand , very nice unit , holds calibration for a very long time.

Does everything except mix the water for you.

Enjoy the toy .

If everyone used EC there would be no ambiguity.
Was that hard to do? I have this one apera unit coming. I see it also does TDS in ppt not ppm, is that a problem? Mainly is it sensitive enough to lower readings.

Stick to EC, tds and ppm are simply derived measures and the cause for needless confusion. The meter is measuring conductivity, makes sense to stick with conductivity.

Based on some of the pictures I saw it looks like root rot to me. If your roots are not super white and no brown film over them (not root staining).. then you have root rot which could be the core issue here, along with over feeding. Ditch the hydro guard and go with UC Roots and run a sterile system.

These other good folks are giving you good advice.. but I think you've flushed enough by now so start raising the PPMs.

I was root rot, and I had to trash them all. They were to far gone. Before doing so I cut some clones, and will try again with much more knowledge.

I'll check out UC Roots as well, and do more research on sterile systems.

Thanks to all.
