Real RDWC or not?

Hey everyone. I jumped in head first and bought this kit here.

This kit doesn't come with a water pump, the res only has one water outlet and connects to the other 5 gallon buckets. How is this RDWC? It doesn't seem like those small hoses will allow much recirculation especially with no pump. I'm looking to just fill and feed through the reservoir only, do I just need to grab a submersible water pump?

I'm at a lost here, I have the system and would appreciate any help.

It says it is dwc on the link you post not rdwc

Its confusing though. It does say dwc, but in the details it says rdwc. I'd be skeptical.
I'll see if I can get a refund. I guess if anything I can just run regular DWC or just run the res and 2 grow buckets and just add nutrients to all 3 buckets. It'll just literally be a feeder bucket it seems.

Thoughts?

A pump in the resivour bucket, pumping with a line along into the top of each bucket should create the rdwc i think

Thanks.

So my plan is to buy a submersible pump, add to the res, pump/lift water through a hose that feeds to the top of the grow buckets? Basically the waterfall method?

Good thing is the buckets already have openings on the lid for this.

Yes that will create the rdwc

It is indeed a RDWC system as pictured, just a passive one.
Gravity equalizes the water levels in the buckets.
It works provided the water lines don't get obstructed with roots.

I dont think It recirculates it just has a main bucket to check water level and ph, ec and keep topped up without doing individual planta

Thanks, if I do keep it as a passive setup, would I just be mixing nutes/correcting PH via grow buckets + res or will adding to the res spread it through to the grow buckets (eventually).

Yeah I have it filled now and can't see any water moving or anything like that. Like you say it seems like a "check" res to me.

Yeah thats what it looks like to me aswell, usually the rdwc have got like a water line going in top like a waterfall and pump pulling back out the bottom on most ones you see on ebay

Good thing is a pump and tubing shouldn't cost me more than $30
If you're interested in rdwc.... check this out.....

I've not tried it, but it looks interesting.
It does. I think I have an idea of what's going on here, do you have more info? I would love to use a setup with less water involved (but still hydroponics). It's my first grow and I'm already worried about warm water temps.

Do you have a diary or journal I can follow?

All 4 of my seeds sprouted, I'm going to move them into my fake RDWC (lol) system soon, when should I do that?

Also, I think 4 might be too much for a beginner..What do you think?

Quick update, ended up moving to just DWC. These buckets I bought just won't do good in any RDWC setup cause the tubes are too tiny. Too many modifications involved and since it's my 1st grow ever.. I'm rolling with DWC for ease of use.

Do not buy this VEVOR set up.

basically, the reservoir in these cheaper kits will replenish what is missing from the buckets to an even level but they wont "mix" or recirculate at all. If you just use one bucket/plant I've done a ghetto change where I just pick up the reservoir physically for the water to siphon between. Not really something you could maintain.

I've been looking myself and anything under 2" return pipes is too small. Round containers + large holes doesn't work well for sealing leaks so the square black ones work best.
