Recommend lights from the UK?

Hi, I'm trying to grow weed for the first time with what are basically torches at the moment, all the guides I've read(and I've read a lot of them) tend to be american and tell me to get "Gro-lux" lights etc, I simply can't find any of those in any UK shops or retailers.

So could anyone recommend some cheap mains powered lights that can be bought online in the UK for a first time grower.

I'm not looking to get amazing weed, just want to grow one or two plants in a cupboard.

hello there mate i live in the uk as well, Gro-lux is just a make of a bulb lol the lights you want to bud your plants is HPS - HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM lights is what you need to bud your plants. but you will have to use a different light to grow the i just use a Fluorescent tubes 2x cool white and 2x warm white but warm white is not made any more so i use daylight ones they are called i think so 2 cool white and 2 daylight for the growth cycle 18 hours of light a day and use the HPS light for 12 hours a day for the flowering cycle ok mate its up to you wat wattage you buy for the hps.

HPS can be got from ebay.co.uk and the Fluorescent tubes you can just get from proper lighting centres or shops.

About the fluorescent lights, I was looking to get some of those already and I can find the tubes everywhere but it seems the ballast units are alot more difficult to find, any idea where I could get those? also if its possible to plug these straight into the mains?

you only need a ballest for the HPS light. The fluorescent tubes are a every day light used in the home or school you should just beable to wire
them up to a plug with the right fuse in it and plug in to a timer for 18 hours aday for veg cycle.

lol, thought a ballast was the actual lamp thing that you put the bulb/tube into.

What I want is the fitting/fitting thing that you put the fluorescent tubes into.

maybe you should look into cfl's you the energy saving light bulbs they fit into a standard light fitting get a few a these and youll be able to grow with them!

look at growell m8 i dnt get anywere else cfls and hps i prefer hps myself

Wow, heard the term CFL in guides etc loads of times, had no idea it was just the commen household energy saving bulbs? will get a few of those for sure!

That growell site is new to me also and looks handy thanks.
