Red Blood(sap)?First Topping W/ LST

OK here's the deal. This is my first grow. And after much debate I decided to top as well as tie down.

The plan is to take the two new main branch's and wrap them around the rim of the pot in opposite directions.

But when I finally made the cut for the topping a red liquid leaked out. Almost like blood and its still stained red.

Did I fuck up really bad some how or is this normal??

It's normal.. Never seen any "red" substance leak out of any of mine in the 15 years of growing, however I have seen them seep clear liquids after being topped 4 sure.. :)
