Red Leaves / Purple Leaves

Hi Guys,

Some of the leaves on my plant are turning light green & then red or purple towards the tips.

Have recently used phosphorus plus for the first time (5 Weeks into flowering) so could be nute burn, but the according to all the guides the above signs are of a phosphorus deficiency.

Any ideas?

Your plants look fine (they look good). I've got a Papaya that's got VERY purple leaf stems and she's doing fine. The yellowing is also normal, the plant is moving nitrogen to where it needs to use it (the buds). Continuing with feedings, with a little higher phosphorous during flowering, is the thing to do.

Cheeers mate,

I was tempted to feed them but over feeding
when you have problems is a big no no according
to posts I have read!

Will give them so phos plus tonight...

Yes, overfeeding is most difficult to recover from, I should know. Rest assured, in my very humble opinion, they're looking good.

Hi Guys,

Ok, a week has past since my original post & the leaves are still effected.

They are changing colour like the leaves on the trees outside in autumn.

Am still putting this change down to temps.

Have purchased a small oil filled radiator to place in my tent, the temps are now 70 Degs night & 80 Degs day but not much improvement in colour.

Buds do not seem to be effected, just some of the leaves.

I'm on day 49, so have 14-21 days to go...

Hoping they will go the distance,

How come you're not removing the yellow leaves? Other than not having them removed (which is giving yours a thicker canopy than mine), they look pretty darn close to what I'm seeing.

What you're seeing is similar to what's starting to happen to some of my girls, all outdoors, after a cold spell that's now passed. One in particular has gone quite autumnal in her coloration, others are showing varying degrees of purple coloration, ALL have more and more yellowing leaves. At this point I have no idea how far from harvest I am, because two weeks ago I figured I had about two weeks left. Yet, no color change towards amber is really apparent. Maybe we go til the end of the month.

I was always told not to remove any leaves unless the were about to fall off, so have kept them all on?

Some of the large fan leaves on my tall plant are effected more than others so was tempted to pull them off as they are going almost limp, if only just to give more light to the buds below?

Nov 1st will be 9 weeks, so I'm guessing so :~)

As I said above, have been tempted to remove some of the large leaves to give more light, but always thought it was wrong to? Maybe not...

If the leaves are no longer green, I go ahead and remove them. It looks neater, and does open up the canopy, will fall off anyway, and it pleases me. Now what I'm doing, instead of pinching or cutting off is just gently pulling them. If they give and come off, great. If not, they stay til they're spent. I think the plant is still using the nutrients held within the leaves and if removed too early will just move that demand elsewhere. Does that make sense? I can't say that your way is wrong, though, it's just different from what I do (not just with Mary, but with all plants).

Not sure if I am losing it, but the larger of the three seems to by on its way out?

I have seen leaves go yellow as the plant matures, but nothing like this.

The buds seem to be fine at the moment, abit a tad small, but its my first grow, so happy with anything to be honest

I could be a nitrogen def?

Taken from Planet Ganja.com - Learn how to grow Marijuana...

Usually the def will start on the lower to middle part of the plant, and then will usually happen to older leaves first. Then the deficiency will work its way up the plant. Your plant can be green on top, then yellowing on the lower leaves when the deficiency is starting out. Yield will be greatly reduced without good amounts of nitrogen in your plants. Sometimes in bad cases the leaves will turn a purplish color along with the yellowing.

My Nuets contain Nitrogen & my water is always ph'd to around 6-6.5 so there should not be a nute lock or anything.

Thanks kingeric,

They are 51 days in, will be 9 weeks into flowering on Nov 1st, some people say they grow the church till 11 weeks though?

The smell is still pretty fresh so don't think they are quite ready yet, there are orange hairs on the center cold, but not on all of the smaller pubs lower down the plant.

Sorry, the correct version:

The smell is still pretty fresh so don't think they are quite ready yet, there are orange hairs on the center cola, but not on all of the smaller buds lower down the plant.

The hairs are just starting to go orange on these...

Thats what I thought, the hairs on the main colas on all 3 are getting pretty orange, but not so on the smaller buds, so I thought 9 weeks seemed a good estimate.

You say brown, do they go brown after they go orange?
