Reflector/Bulb direction in rectangular tent

Hey Guys

I got a 3 foot by 1.5 foot tent with a 400watt HPS light with a reflector similar to this http://www.heartlandhydrogardens.com/images/agrotech.jpg.

I was wondering do i want to mount it so the bulb is going long ways along the tent or so the bulb is facing towards the shorter direction, i would assume i want it to go long ways so it coveres more of the 3 feet but the top reflector looks like itd reflect more if its facing the other way as thats the way the hood arc things go.

I was using 2x400watts in this space with pretty decent results (about 8-10oz per grow) but after some research it looks like i was probably using too much light for the space and reaching diminishing returns as well as having to keep them further away than a single 400 this running into the inverse square law.

You want it like you have it now. Bulb facing the shortest direction so the longest sides of the reflector are throwing the most light in the longest direction. I have a rectangular room to and I had it wrong untill I stumbled across a post here somewheres.
