if both are the same price, would you get 10 regulars or 5 fems? Im stuck on which to do. Anyone want to throw in their 2 cents?

I always go fem.

If I did regular out of 10 seeds I'd have maybe 5 females, maybe none. Out of 10 fem seeds I will have 10 fem plants, minus the rare possibility of a genetic induced herm or just bad genetics to where the plant refuses to grow even in a perfect environment, also rare.

Not sure what the debate would be in defense of reg over fem, other then price there is nothing, but like you state in your question "if both were same price" then it's an obvious choice.

With fems I get females. I don't waste soil/nutes/space/time on regulars that turn male. Fems produce as much as regulars, are just as potent, they are identical to the regulars of the same strain with the exception that they have been feminized.

Not even a debate in my mind. I end up cloning my favorites anyway but in the short-mid and long range fems are the choice. IMO

I wouldn't even go 20 regular over 5 fem of same strain. Out of 5 regulars I may not even get a single female.

I've had nothing but, good luck with fem seeds. I've ordered over 100 and no males yet. Why waste a month or two growing males?

Really depends what ur plans are for them. If ur just gonna grow them out nd flower fems would be good but if u plan on keeping a mother for cloning or breeding than u would want reg seeds.

If you ever plan on producing a seed crop, then you DO NOT want feminized seeds. It is my understanding that a pollinated feminized plant will produce nearly 100% hermaphrodite seeds, which are worthless. That's no small issue, seeds from a regular male/female cross of the right genetics can be tremendously valuable. And those seeds can allow you to restart at a future date in the event that you need to do an emergency shut down of your grow that includes the disposal of clones.

. This guy clearly has no idea what he's talking about.
So you can only clone from a regular plant. Hmm and you can only make seeds from a regular plant. Hmmm.
That's ground breaking man.

They make this stuff its called colloidal silver. I make my own seeds all the time. there not hermaphrodites, Works great. I don't know why people think all feminized seeds make hermaphrodites. It's amazing that all the femanized seeds the seed banks sell that there all hermaphrodites. 100%

i've grown many strains feminized and regular and i have to say i highly prefer regular. almost everything that i had feminized grew some pollen sacks. my regular seeds, after taking out the males, they never get seeds unless one of those bastard feminized is near it and pollinates it. i never even grow feminized anymore unless they're free. and when i do i keep a very close eye for pollen sacks. when i see any forming i chop the plant early. i have many more plants to make up for an early one. plus my garden is normally over crowded and i can always use extra room. crazy how i can legally grow 72 plants but only grow about 20-25 fully rooted until i get an additional house.

stress can cause even regular seeds to hermaphrodite though. keep an eye on temps and watch for light leaks in 12/12.

i'd say for regular seeds the 50/50 male/female ratio is pretty accurate.

many people also say feminized seeds are more for a 1 time grow where regular seeds are better for making a mother plant after ensuring it's female. thats what i do. then just clone away. always keep my veg room completely filled. if i dont have room for any plants when they get big i give them to a friend free of charge. every week i bring 1-2 plants in flower. i harvest 1-2 plants every week. each plant has a seperate schedule for feeding which is time consuming at times. anytime the work becomes too much i hire friends and they have a choice of weed or money. we're all legal. stay smaller scale and feds shouldnt mess with you.

i shoudl also mention high times did an article on reg vs fem. according to their test there wasnt much of a difference. from my experience with fem seeds though, im stickings with reg. tga subcool is the best! i go through single seed centre but i think attitude and nirvana has them as well.

Regular will give you a better a chance of gaining some special genetics.
What makes you think so? A single free blue widow feminized seed I got was outstanding. Granted, there is some luck in that. I am not aware that the feminization process is limiting on key genetic factors. The problem is that the genetics from such plants are clone only; you won't get useful seeds out of them.

Feminized seeds have the same chance showing different growth patterns as regular seeds. However, the dominant traits will express themselves identically. Ie smell, pistol color, and thc content.

A cloned plant's growth structure will be identical to the mother.

Your understanding is 100% wrong.
