Remember to change your lights, even if still working.

I have been running two 400W HPS bulbs for a long time. Longer than one should. I picked two new ones up at Menard's (I am cheap but they work for me).
I get home, go into the room and interrupt the light cycle and screw in all the normal room lights for a little light. Yes, I interrupted the cycle but had as much incandescent light as I could as I wanted to change bulbs and clean the glass on each hood.
Glass cleaned and put back, new bulbs installed, and I reactivated the cycle loosened the normal light bulbs so they would not work and left while things heated up.
I went back to check after they had time to fully ignite and holly crap the room was bright!
I wold consider the room "shadowy" with the old bulbs but not the new.
Remember to change bulbs every six months because they dim out so slow you won't notice it but the plants will. I know it sucks if using a $100 or more bulb(s).
The old bulbs were about a year old and I would say compared to the new ones they had lost 25% or more lumens.
