Hi
I have two "the widow" seedlings, oneis on its way 3 - 4 days old. The other one is up and standing straight, but it still has its seed casing stuck on. Should I remove this manually or leave it. It kinda looks like a number 7 with the seed on the top corner..

If the stem is fully upright, then I'll usually remove it by trying to crack it off the way it's supposed to go. Be gentle when opening.

is a delicat operation if performed correctly sumtimes if you remove will leave a thin membrain on rounded leaves even harder to remove
most will shed in time as leaves grow and push off -i have donr both removed and left alone

if you feel like a surgon try it
if you feel like a clumsy oath leave it

gluck ether way

I started helping the seedlings cast off their seed cases. I lost too many seedlings to stubborn
seed cases and decided to help. I use 2 toothpicks to pry the seed cases off.

....Best to let them fall of on their own but once in awhile they wont, and the leaf its attached to can start turning funky with that on it. In that case, I've held onto the stem and then carefully plucked it off with a pair of little tweezers.
