Removing fan leaves?

When is the best time to trim off, or is it good to remove the big fan leaves at all? Not really scroging or soging, just growing.

I have some very grown Bubba Kush. Don't mind at all the extra buds, but at what point do I let the light on the lower buds?

(sorry for the color of the pic, it was taken with both HPS and LED, and a phone)
The Bubba is 4 weeks into a 9 week flower, now. Had an 8 week grow and got pinched back twice.

I see no problem with removing fan leaves, especially ones blocking other bud sites, more sun more bud, on my outdoor plants, every year I defol and it promotes bushier growth and heavy branching, always pluck the ones covering bud sites or tuck them or whatever l9ng as it don't shade others , it is a big debate for a reason, it's how you do it, it's simple, don't strip every leaves off, it will die lol

So you're saying removing a large leaf, that has no problems and is mature enough to utilize high amounts of light, to allow light to hit the "smaller", lower, undeveloped leaf, is somehow letting the plant get more light?

I'm saying if a leaf is covering another bud sight, remove it, or tuck, tie, juss so other sites can get light, this is my opinion tho, really depends on how the grower wants to grow, in my experience, yield has always been better, now I ain't saying take a chainsaw, just a few leafs

i'd rather try to spread the plant out a bit if you can to allow a bit more light to the lower bud sites rather than remove fan leaves, which create foods and sugar via photosynthesis..
just gotta be careful with bubba kush as it's stems are usually super stiff and woody, and tend to be hard to manipulate in my experience..

That's what I'm doing this grow which is my 2nd indoors, I've lst like crazy, even done supercropping, if it's a have to situation , I will remove them, but not enough to harm it, I have seen someone defoliate way to much and yield was next to nothing, which sucked cause it was a big blue dream plant.

You do realize that upto 80% of light passes through the leaves right? No need to remove anything. Science baby!!!!!

I'm not wanting in a heated debate, yes I know the purpose of leaves, but it's wat the grower wants, many different ways and methods than just 1, I was just saying that it can help,

Lol. This defoliating thing drives me crazy. I have a fucked up scrog and I want to get rid of leaves but I'm afraid to do it. I've just been tucking them.
Next grow I'm going to run 5 plants and 1 is getting some extreme defoliating just for ancedotal research

I know what you mean, but if you defol, don't go trigger happy with it lol that's were alot of people mess up I've seen, are you in flower, tucking , them is a great method btw, but I would take some off if needed, but like you said you are doing a grow next to try it, trust me it does wonders if done correctly, peace
