Removing lower bud sites

grow vertical and those pesky popcorn buds will be 2 gram buds........
I've been reading a lot about vertical growing over the last couple of months. I really want to give it a shot but admittedly am a little afraid to try and fail! I'm thinking about putting a proper floor down in my attic and setting up a trial vertical grow. Or I might just take the risk with my personal room. I'm just scared! My room delivers and I don't want to tweak it and fuck it up. My biggest thing is the actual lighting set up. Does anyone sell a hoodless light? I do not have the physical time to sit down and wire up my own.

Dont WASTE the popcorn!! Let it grow and up your hash yields!

FTW

My last run i pulled 48 zips dry of tops and mids, dry.

BUT!! All the primo sugar leaves and popcorn came to a WET weight of 1350 grams, which translated to 61 grams of dry ice hash. Upped the yield by 30 to 40%. Coulda been more if i hadnt been lazy...
It's all about the wax up here!

Vertical grows you definitely turn lowers into.decent nugs for smoking or selling. I used to line 8 bulb t5's horizontally on the side walls too. With standard hps over top. People back in tje day (and the books - shame Rosenthal and Cervantes) said for years it was more trouble than it was worth for what you got....well when i did it...it was WAY worth it. The garden side wall canopy has to be fairly close to those walls but yeah...definite lower bud fill out.

you still have a good bit of trimming in vertical, the whole back side of the plant. it's really not hard to set up...put exhaust above light if possible, mine is next to it...put small fan on LOW setting under light pointing at light....read up on it and see which set up will fit your room....stadium, tree, coliseum............

I've grown for a few years now and have tried pretty much everything in my quest for more and denser buds... what I've found so far is that by taking my lower branches off, it allows my top Colas to grow a bit bigger... my yeilds are pretty much the same but instead of a mixed bag of nice Colas and fluffy popcorn... I'm now pulling that same weight in just big buds... trimming is cut in half now that I'm not pissing around with a thousand little popcorn... I also defoliate my plants. Usually in veg it's done to control the vertical height a bit and then I give it a really good de leafing about a week or two into flower with additional cutting when I notice a shaded spot over a Cola... I use tomato cages to open my girls up as they grow and make sure to always LST my plants so I have an even canopy...

I've done the whole let it grow natural thing and the trim work is just brutal...

Me and you went through the same journey and came to the same conclusion lol. I do the same exact same for the same reasons.

Appical dominance and control takes care of the tops all by herself.

Propper pruning will eliminate the mutated growth of the lower branches.

Vertical for the. Last few years , wish I would have discovered it sooner

Hell I have one brand new in the box that I'm never going to use.

What light do you currently use? I have disassembled a few sockets from the hoods and they work fine

Standard hid hoods, I've got some winged ones, some closed ones (that I usually run open I don't like glass between my lights and my plants). I'm already doing so many things, I really don't have time to be guy that takes apart lights too. Plus me and wires have a bad history I'd rather not mess with that stuff.

Yeah...many shops and online retailers will let you just pick the ballast, socket, and cord setup. And alot of mogul socket assemblies will have a wire "hangar" with bracket just for hoodless vertical positioning.

Has anyone ever heard of pruning a rose bush or peach tree for better flowers and fruit?
Yes, then we have people on this board that are actually peach tree farmers, master gardereners and plant biologists tell us a little knowledge is dangerous.
