removing water leaves does it help ?

I'm new to growing cannabis but I am under the opinion that water leaves help more that hurt atleast outdoors. think of the plant as a factory and the leaves provide fuel and raw materials to produce flowers so taking off the leaves is like firing employees and still tring to raise output IMHO.
