We have just moved into a really nice rental house, and it has a spare room downstairs that is unfinished. Both my fiancee and I have our red cards, and we have our 6 plants each. Fort Collins has a rule that you can't have over 12 plants in a residence anyway, so we will just keep the legal number. What I am wondering is if it is legal to grow in a rental house. We rent from a small time agency that is run by one or two people, and they are really nice and friendly. The lease does not specifically say if we can or cannot grow, it just says we have to abide by all rules, laws, and regulations. Including City, County, State, and FEDERAL laws. Now technically Eric Holder and Barack Obama said they will not interfere with patients rights in states that already have laws, but that doesn't mean it is federally LEGAL, Am I Right? I am just worried that this clause could screw me over.
I have a 7 foot monster just put into flowering today, and 4 2 footers, and a few seedlings in the veg area. I have a key lock on the door and my red cards available, and no one is allowed in there except me or my fiancee. I am going to get a LARGE carbon filter for smell, but I am still worried.
Now as far as the landlord finding out, he did say he will do a 60-90 day walk through just to check up on the house and make sure we are keeping up with cleaning and yard work stuff. He tried to make it not sound scary, but it still worries me that he can evict us if he finds out. Does anyone have any experience with landlords and growing medicine or should I consult an attorney before the walk through?
Just looking for someone to ease my mind or give me good info, Thanks!
