I have a couple Can-50's that have served me well over the last year or 2... the pre-filters are pretty dirty..... I wanna replace those.. & the activated carbon in the walls of the cylinder... I was just wondering where I could get the pelletized activated carbon in bulk for the cheapest.. any ideas??

Might try giving these folks a call not sure if they will sell small amounts or not but they should atleast be able to point you in the right direction.

Nichem Carbon Co.

holy shit... they say on that site that they start @ 55 gal. barrels... that's a helluva lot more than I'd ever need...! any other leads guys? I was hoping someone had gone through the process of "renewing" a used carbon filter.. & could tell me about their plight.. :leaf:

Seamaiden may be able to help you a bit more on this, but activated charcoal can be RE-ACTIVATED by baking it in the oven at about 400 or 450 for 45 min or so. This helps create more microscopic cracks and fissures in the charcoal, and thats how it traps the impurities.
