I suppose you could try, but molasses ain't really that hard to find. My guess is that honey is much purer than molasses. I think all that dark shit is what your plants love. Unprocessed sugar is supposed to be good too, things like sugar in the raw, Sucanat, or the stuff they sell at Mexican markets.
I've grown with Molasses, by the way. I think I'll be trying something else for my next grow just to compare, though.

Just out of curiosity, what is it about honey that makes you consider it to be similar to molasses? I have heard this before, and I guess it makes sense in a "human" context - but for growing, I just don't see it!

Molasses has calcium and magnesium in it. Your plants need that. Molasses has a different combination of sugars in it too i'm sure.

Yea,dont assume that just because honey is basically sugar,doesnt mean that its beneficial for growing cannabis lifeforms...mollases can be found ANYWHERE...Publix,winn-dixie,etc.

no dude dont do it.
i had the same question and asked like 3 forums.
honey is natural anti bacterial, and soil has bacterias your plant uses to live.
molasses actually feeds the bacteria, honey can kill it.
is walmart hard to find in your area? because walmart sells grandmas molasses, which is exactly the kind of unsulferated molasses you want, and its like 2-3$
if you dont put the effort and time in, dont be dissapointed when you get poor results.

Yeah, decided not to go with honey... i'll just loook around a bit more.

honey works just as good as molasses bro....when you use things like molasses you are feeding the microbes in the soil sugar.....you are not feeding the plants with it...you can also use REAL maple syrup or turbinado cane sugar....ANY natural form of sugar will do. I have used them all and had the same results with every one....

honey does have some antibacterial properties...but believe me it will feed more microbes in your soil than it will kill, honey is almost completely sugar....just like molasses.....or maple syrup

Also if you are not growing organic or at least using products that are safe for organic gardens, there is no point in using any carbs or sweetener because if you are using chemical fertilizer you have already killed all your microbes, and they can't eat any sugar when they are dead......
