I'd warned in my introduction that I would be posting plenty of stupid questions......here is the first (several)!
First, a little history--I started some old sack seeds half on a whim, half frustrated with the poor availability/very real danger of purchase in my area. The seedlings literally started in a starter planter in my living room under no special light at all--they got sunlight when the windows were open and flourescents at night for a little over two weeks.
Shortly afterwards I discovered these forums, but rather than start again from scratch (which probably would have been wise), I transplanted to some Jiffy Pots and created the setup in the attached pictures. The lights are two 580mm Toshiba 20SSes....."Clear Daylight," serial FL20SS EDC/18-2P. The fixture is hanging on a laundry drying rack. Sorry, my mobile phone doesn't have a very good camera (at least as far as focus and aperture controls go), so the shots I have aren't too great.
The original 16 seedlings were eventually cut down to the 3 you see pictured--they were the hardiest-looking females of the bunch. However, as you can see from the growspace I doubt I have room for more than 1 or 2 plants.
As this is my first try, and I am really only looking for a yield in time for April 20th for personal use (I thought I could try again on a larger scale if I was successful), what I need is the benefit of your experience to tell me a) which plant(s) I should keep, b) what I can do about their stunted growth, c) what's up with Plant No3, and d) any general advice for the final transplant.
Sorry to be so unfocussed (and longwinded)--here are the pictures of what I have so far. Although there is some discoloration on Plant No3 (I thought it was female.....but now I'm doubting myself), it isn't really that red. Blame my mobile phone and poor color photography skills....
Any help at all to get me towards my 4/20 goal (I know it's soon) would be greatly appreciated.....thanks very much for your time and advice!
