ok so i got a bunch of mothers that ive been taking clones from and well they got too tall, and have more than a foot of stem with no branches and i was wondering if i can just dig the plant up, cut the stem so the plants shorter, throw it in so rooting hormone (if i really need it...stem should just start growing new roots automatically right?) and let it grow again....they still have a lot of branches at the top and i would just be throwing them into flowering in a couple weeks anyways, just didnt want to waste so much space when my clones are so short, and didnt want to just throw away my mothers if i didnt have to.....so whats up? will it work?

Try taking some supple top stock and graft it to the bottom stem. Then your stem will become a producer of clones and eventually top the tree out. I am not sure this will work, but I am about to try it myself. It seems to work with most plant species.

how do you graft them to the bottom? is it basically planting them near stem and they root together or what i dont get it??

ok so i did some reading up on it, so basically you what, make angled cuts and just fit branches together, or cut out like a knotch and then the opposite on the branch and fit them together? how do you keep the branch in just the right spot? but besides that, can i just cut my stem off at the lowest branch and replant?
