i don't think there's a lot of retarded wild animals because they probably don't survive long, but domestic animals pass on their seed whether they're retarded or not.
do cats in the wild do this?
i do suppose that the nurturing environment of a domestic household brings out emotions and crap that the animals wouldn't have a chance to experience in the wild, so the so-called "emotional intelligence" of domesticated animals is probably higher.
