Rice Wine Vinegar

canna I thank you for clearing that up, Chicken might have thought of that one days ago. Regardless, I have been using rice wine vinegar since I started this thread and I have has no issue what so ever. Might even give a nice funk to the end result.

Quitekeen, are you in soil or soilless/hydro? For soil, vinegar would make a fine pH-down until the microherd recognizes it as food. In hydro, I've heard of it working. However I'd be leery of introducing a microbe fodder into my reservoir. It's like molasses ... great for soil but not at all recommended for hydroponics. Jmo. cn

It is the moral duty of stoners to know stuff about the things they crave. :bigjoint: cn

hahaha so true so true...

I am using Black Forest Compost (70%ish) Perlite (30%ish) Foxfarm nutes... although I just got converted by subcool so I am gonna get dirty tomorrow kicking dirt around a wading pool.

a tarp is the easiest way to mix. toss ingredients on tarp and mix, by pulling over a corner at a time, to fold the components in. i am very lazy, and i totally endorse this method. soils and super-soils are CHEAP.....compare to those pre-mixes with the pretty bags. i keep the supplements in stock, and i just run to store for peat and perlite as needed.

also canna I like your sig too, that's 2010 Space Odyssey right?
Thanks Quitekeen!
The line was featured in that movie, but i originally got it from the novel version of 2001 - A Space Odyssey, co-written by Clarke and Kubrick. I don't mind that it didn't show up in the movie, since the cut from the celestial alignment of planets and monolith → start of The Ride was brilliant in my opinion.

I might try Subcool's soil mix one day. I am running Fox Farm Happy Frog right now. It worked great for the first month or so, and its texture and smell are great. Imo the diff between "potting soil" and a good, carefully-made mix is like the diff between a hardware-store Stanley plane and a hand-forged laminated Japanese "hira kanna" signed by Tsunesaburo. Both will do the job, but not both are a sensual and spiritual experience.

Off to test-drive my brand-new Space Case grinder!! cn

+I feel like a literary scrub for having only seen the films...

I've read Lord of the Rings tho!
And Silmarillion ahem
But not space od, I really should read that

The films are very good imo, and the books closely parallel them. I read "Contact" by Sagan, and this (as well as "The Postman" by David Brin, a quite good book that was simply RUINED by that Costner git) is actually better as the film.
I could hold forth for hours about science fiction ... but i'll spare you  cn

<edit> I've read Lord of the Rings. I tried reading the Silmarillion, but it put me in mind of a history text. Tolkien was a professor through&through.

He invented a language, complete with syntax and grammar!

Havent read contact or postman but veering from Sci Fi and into Books that were totally ruined by the film version... The Beach, by Alexander Garland. Gritty, real, awesome! And the main character is a Brit, which is more realistic as TONS of Brits go to Thailand for that finding one's self experience.

Leo made it a pussy love story, in the book the main dude never shags the French girl, he just fantasizes over it. Its cool. Another really really great book is Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. Sry I love to read and if you like sci fi and smoke buds then you'll probably like those books :)
