Rikku - My First Grow

I don't mind at all if you post in my journal, in fact i prefer if you post your opinions and feel free to critique anything I am doing.
Im going to edit this first post with each update so you wont have to scroll through 20 billion pages

Introduction:

Hey guys, ive decided that i want to try my hand at Growing. Its getting too hard to buy and well, growing seems like some good fun with nice rewards at the end.

Method:

I started off with 3 seeds, unsure of strain. Used the wet paper method for germinating. 2 out of 3 germinated, one cracked open a little and in my excitement i put it in a pot and i think i killed it. I left the others in the wet paper towel for a while. one cracked and had a 1cm root so i decided to plant it.

I took it out, put it in a small pot filled with potting mix. put it my my closet under 1 2700k 1200lm CFL light.

I heard that if the soil is more acidic the plant has a tendency to become male, so i put a bit of lime in the soil to try lower the Ph.

it took 2 days before one of my seeds broke through the surface.

I named her (being optimistic) Rikku and the other Snow Pea (from Plants Vs Zombies)

Snow Pea has yet to show up, Hopefully shes just a late bloomer

Looks like SOMETHING is happening, not entirely sure what at this stage. I think i killed it, maybe thats the seed and i didnt dig it in deep enough?

Im not sure when to switch lights to 18/6, or even if that is the right setting, any tips? first time grower

wow she grows pretty fast!

So it looks like ill stick to using the 24/0 till i start flowering on 12/12 setting because i dont have a timer
A friend recommended 13/11 for flowering, promotes growth apparently, any suggestions?

CO2 (Yeast mix)



I added CO2 into the mix by mixing together some yeast and sugar in a bottle and connecting a hose that runs to the underside of the plant.
I can see the nodes for the first cannabis looking leaves

...imo, you can keep your lights on for 24/0, or 18/6 to keep your plants in the veg state. There is no difference between the two photoperiods, for both will keep your plant in the same state of growth. Some even argue that 24/0 promotes faster growth, while others protest that plants need sleep. I keep my lights on 24/0, and always have for my veg.

i started out 18/6 but after 3 weeks switched to 24/0. not sure if the switch stresses the plant

...I've never heard that the ph balance of your h2o can influance the seeds sex. Just keep your light close 2''....keep temps 70-80 F....don't overwater (make sure you soil is bone dry before you rewater) ...get you a ph balance test kit or meter and ph down, keep your pH @ 6.5 in soil. The lime you added is ment to nuteralize your soil, which makes your soil's pH 7. The lime won't lower your pH unless it's over 7...it will only bring your soil to 7. You need 6.5, IMO. Good luck.

im planning to SCROG
Ive got to keep the grow on the down low so its a little stealthy.
At the moment im using tin foil and CDs as reflectors for the light.
I only have one light bulb socket so i mite go and buy a brighter bulb.

Anyone have experience with CFL lights and heat? i dont want to be running a fan in my little grow room for the moment.

Hello everyone, I have been using this forum for a while but I had not posted anything yet, so here it is. I have lost track of weeks and don't know when should I start flushing my plant for final harvest, do I have time enough to feed her high in phosforous once before the end? I have only given her 20 - 20 - 20 for her entire life and it has been mostly irregular. It started as an indoor proyect but sunny days made me take her out every now and then, till it finally started sleeping outside. Can you please take a look at my plant and let me know your thoughts. Maybe suggestions. Is it possible to know the strain from the pictures? I got it from nice bag seed, and this is my first grow.
