Rockwool Rot??

OKAY,
so I just posted this in my journal, but it seems to not get a lot of play and I need this question answered badly...

take a look:

Sorry, just a phone pic (can get a higher res later today hopefully)...

I have 4 plants on day 15, not doing so good... VERY stunted growth, most likely overwatered at first with nute burn to top it off :)

This plant is the worst, at the bottom is a big spot that looks like the rockwool is decomposing. Made of little black granuals, almost like soil. I see specs of this stuff on the other three as well, but no distinct spot like on this cube.

I tried to research, didn't find much...

-Is this rockwool rot?

-Why my girls are stunted??

-Treatable?

-Start over??

Its rot, RW needs to be kept moist and never wet. You can cure this by mixing 30-50% strength Hydrogen Peroxide(H2O2) with PH water at a rate of 3-4 tablespoons per gallon and slowly pour through the rw cube. Add H2O2 to the reservoir also. If you see bubbles forming the peroxide is doing the job. Add Hyd Peroxide every other day until things improve.

THANKS!

Wow, thought I was doomed. And this wont hurt the plants at all?? Could this be why they're hardly growing??

I'm thinking about saying goodbye to this one and dissect the rockwool, germ a new girl and it may catch up quick without all these problems :)

The same thing happened to me when I replaced the stock Aerogarden sponges for seeds with rockwool for my clones. I was keeping the RW wet even in the off periods for some reason. I guess I thought I shouldnt let it dry out. The RW turned white and black and it soon spread to on of the plants. That stuff can be the reaper, didnt know peroxide could help that, great info!
