Rollitup.org on school campus?

at my school they have a huge, new computer lab. I have a class in there twice a week, and have been bored as shit(beginning computer concepts and application). On the desktop there is big text that says:

"No viewing of sexually explicit or violent material will be tolerated"

as well as "All computers in service are always being monitored" or something to that effect. My question is, could they really watch me on RIU? I know it would be best not to even visit RIU if im on a school computer, but i realize I have no other alternative. There are no other websites I frequent. RIU is my home, you think I should try casually surfing there next class period, or just forget about it? :dunce:

I remember in high school when they brought out the laptops the teacher could see everything we went on from her laptop and she could lock the computer up whenever she wanted so they probably can but this isn't violent or sexual material unless you click on the bush or tasteful nudity threads lol.So unless your growing I wouldn't give a fuck and just go on it and see what happens.

If worse comes to worse, tell them your doing a research paper on stoner habbits and how they react to different situations. Thatll getem

i done a research paper on marijuana cultivation in my horticultur class and i went to plenty of sites and never got in trouble

To answer your question: yes, they can monitor you. However, looking on this website isn't technically against the rules of your lab, but they might lock you out if they catch you. You can't get punished or anything though. This isn't illegal or against the stated rules so just tell them to f*** off if they try to discipline you.

There are two things they can do relatively inexpensively to monitor the computers.

Most likely - they have a program which captures URL's - which might be automated and looking for porn sites. They also my task an IT person to look at them, when he has time.

Other method - unlikely - They can view everything on your screen at any time. This is rather unlikely due to the expense of installing and maintaining the system (royalties) and the fact that some person needs to review this stuff.

So depending on the institution, your mileage may vary.

I was an IS Director for a public company for about ten years. We argued that we didn't want monitoring, etc. as we were a professional company, and I am sure my CIO (who didn't want it anyway) argued the financial aspects.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it, it is the least of thier worries. They worry about sexual harasment, stalking, whacko's, etc.

Just my $0.02

Peace - :joint::peace:
