I can only wish I had found this website 2 years ago...
I wonder if you would still be here then though, lol, we've gone through alot of changes and such these last 2 years. I've only thought about leaving once, way back when they re-did the format of the site pretty drastically.(it was a ways back, not one of the ones in the last 4-5 months.). but then about 10-15 seconds later when i realized all the old functions were still around, just seemingly hidden/some in stupid places that didnt make sense.

I'm really glad to see their are alot more veteran members left than i thought, I was feeling really alone the last few months, even the newer *veteran* members ive known seem to have taken off. The real peter parker, fuzzy budz, ......., all them guys disappeared on me.

It seems like a really cool place to me. I completely stopped visiting a forum of a completely different subject (desert racing) because of RIU. Over there I've been a member since 2004 and one of the highest "repped" users (personally I could live without rep points in forums) until I found this site. I lost my job in early 2009 and started growing after I found RIU. At first it was because I was bored, but then I got hooked and now, as you can see in my post count, I spent quite a bit of time on here reading, posting, and learning just about anything I can.

I tend to read only the threads I subscribe to and scroll through the new posts to see if there is anything interesting, if there's nothing I mark everything as read to clear it up.

Their seems like such a big gap between us and them at times. I agree.

I do the same thing most of the time, cruise the new posts and follow any subbed threads of mine. I too was unemployed when i started growing, it was a mixture of boredom, wanting some bud, and doing something of actual meaning that i could feel good about sincei was so depressed over not having the job. Growing is 1000s of times more addictive than smoking it so i was hooked too, still am to be honest. It's what i spend most of my time thinking about and running possible setups or how to improve on my current ones constantly. I'm addicted to buying/collecting grow equipment as well. lol.

lol, same exact story for me

My wife and I are trying to buy a home in the next few months after I cashed out my stocks and 401k for the down payment. I'm growing a relatively small grow right now (2x4 flower, 2x2 veg) but plan to use an entire room for my next upgrade :D I constantly look at equipment and set ups to figure out the best way to use my future space. We're both California Prop 215 patients so I'm not worried about my plant limit, it's all about having enough space. I'm not trying to get rich, I just want to smoke for free and make sure my bills are paid

I came across RIU a few years back...apparently after overgrow got shut down? I never actually visited the overgrow site because apparently i was too late.... but it was wierd because there were only a hundred or so users when i originally signed up if i recall correctly. Now, if you DO search google for anything cannabis related, RIU is usually top of the list or somewhere close.

and true, there is a massive amount of bs to wade through. i've got plenty of bullshit too. thats why i mostly lurk so i don't add too much to it.

My first computer was the Commodore 64 w/ The Boss joystick and a dot matrix printer. Fantastic equipment for the time.
Now I build my own. It's truly crazy what a difference a quarter century makes.

my first home computer was a packard bell with windows 3.1 with dot matrix printer. lol you could start a 3 page printout and have time to run to the mcdonald's across town, eat, get dessert, come back and it would still be on page 2, screeching and vibrating. but the real deal old school "first computer" i ever used was the legendary radio shack trs-80. yesssss. that was as good as it got in public school in the 80s. with the banner printer that would make a giant letter "a" made up of hundreds of smaller "a"s, and they would hang these stupid things everywhere so everyone who came in the building knew how technologically advanced the school was. those were the days. ok i'm finished with the way-back machine...

That is how I found the site, I was researching how to grow my own on just about every site I could find, including video's on youtube before I finally stumbled onto RIU. The only reason I even signed up was because I couldn't view the pictures.

I've been researching how to grow for about 8 months and have been growing for about 5 of those months. The only reason I like RIU is because I literally learn something new almost daily. It does kinda suck that the site gets flooded with pointless threads with users wanting you to grab them by the hand and lead them step by step but if you now how to filter them out (I usually double click the blue quote box next to the forums I don't read, it turns them grey and won't show up when you click new posts) it makes RIU pretty easy to find the threads you do like to read.

agree.. threads are being created and burried .. and the useful threads get burried with them too.. no one can reply to the real ppl who need help.. because of all the threads that are misplaced and repeated 100s of times

I totally agree, but i do want to say something about your under 18 thoughts. I have met many kids under 18 who are more mature then some adults, so i do know what you mean about the trolls and shit, but more likely than not there are a few minors on this site who are mature enough to have an adult conversation with.

why did you just say your 16? your fucked. or maybe not. but your dumb for admitting your age tho.
I think he was being sarcastic. I was gonna say something about it myself but then i noticed how many posts he has and how long he has been here. Until i noticed that i was confused by what he meant somewhat too.
