Here is the problem with the whole dispensary model
"its for medical marijuana"

What a fucking joke! Medical marijuana.
What percentage of people actually need "medical marijuana" 1%? The rest are all bullshit scripts. The right way to go about legalization.
Is make it totally legal to grow and possess up to a lb. But illegal to sell any amount.

How many people smoke weed?
Do you think the feds are going to go after everyone that smokes? And if its legal in the state to possess and smoke. Then the local LEO isnt going to bust anyone

And you used the word persecution. The word is prosecution. They are being prosecuted for going outside the letter of the law.
Well, i for one need it since the other meds that i could use for my fibro and arthritis decreased my kidney and liver function as well as increasing my BP, blood glucose, gave me SEVERE nausea and had me so blown out of my mind that i couldn't function. i agree, MANY scripts (not 99% though) are bogus but there ARE those that benefit greatly from it in a medical way. i am one.

Btw, i MEANT persecution, not prosecution. The persecution comes as a result of prosecution.

here is a couple of cases right from canorml
Also on this day, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that a federal grand jury returned a four-count indictment Mark Bagdasarian and his son Ryan Bagdasarian with conspiring to cultivate and distribute marijuana and possessing marijuana through their Buds 4 Life dispensaries in Fresno. According to the criminal complaint, in June 2011, the Bagdasarian’s stores were searched and law enforcement officers found 3,669 marijuana plants, 219 pounds of processed marijuana, and more than $546,000 in cash. A more recent search yielded another 35 pounds of processed marijuana and $40,000 in cash.

October 5, 2011 - In conjunction with a new federal assault on California's medical marijuana providers, a criminal case was unsealed naming six defendants linked to a now-defunct North Hollywood marijuana collective called NoHo Caregivers. The organization allegedly sold marijuana to other stores, and sent marijuana to affiliates in New York and Pennsylvania - distributed approximately 600 to 700 pounds of marijuana per month, according to the indictment. The indictment also seeks the forfeiture of $14.7 million. The defendants named in the NoHo Caregivers indictment are Paul A. Montoya, Noah Joel Kleinman, Kathy Thabet, James Stanley, Bryant Watson, and Casey Wheat.

Can you name a single walgreens store that nets 14.7 million dollars a year?
Mark and Ryan Bagsdasarian were the owners of the collective i belobnged to and i can guaran-fucking-tee you that the charges they are facing are BS.

And what is stopping you from growing it yourself?
I mean come on. Even a total idiot can grow an autoflower.
Again why do you need a dispensary?

FRESNO, Calif. — United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that a federal grand jury returned a four-count indictment today charging Mark Bagdasarian, 53, and his son Ryan Bagdasarian, 24, both of Clovis, with conspiring to cultivate and distribute marijuana and possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute it. Mark Bagdasarian was also charged with cultivating marijuana.
According to court documents, between April 2010 and October 2011, the Badgasarians conspired to distribute marijuana through the Buds 4 Life marijuana stores they owned and operated. Mark Bagdasarian is also charged with growing marijuana for the stores.
According to the criminal complaint, in June 2011, the Bagdasarian's stores were searched and law enforcement officers found 3,669 marijuana plants, 219 pounds of processed marijuana, and more than $546,000 in cash. One defendant said that the business was generating $30,000 to $50,000 per day in revenue. In August 2011, they reopened a store. A more recent search yielded another 35 pounds of processed marijuana and $40,000 in cash.
This case is the product of an extensive investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Fresno County Sheriff's Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Elana S. Landau and Kevin P. Rooney are prosecuting the case.
Mark and Ryan Bagdasarian are scheduled for arraignment on Friday, October 14, 2011. If convicted, they face a maximum sentence of life in prison, and a $10 million fine. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.
The charges are only allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

i DO grow it myself. The dispensary was my source for the best clones in town, great grow knowledge, awesome friendship AND amazing charity. The charity part is the one i liked best :)

They gave so much money back to the community and members that it isn't even funny.

Also, that was Ryan that made the ill-advised statement but he wasn't taking into account their costs of operation. He was saying they GROSSED $30-50k a day - rent, payroll, benefits for employees, purchasing product, donations to the community, donations to some patients in need, etc.

A shit-ton! And again, they weren't NETTING $30-50k a day. They were accepting donations in that amount and then deducting all their costs and what was left went to charity (or was attempted, several declined to accept the donations).

As for no sales, how is one to recoup their costs for producing? B4L had the lowest prices in town, gave away a TON of stuff to members and neighbors (bbq every summer day, keeping the neighborhood clean, supporting local homeless and youth groups, etc), gave free meds to those who simply couldn't afford it or were terminal, etc.

i'm telling you, while i cannot vouch for any of the other collectives raided, B4L had their shit going on.

This is a bullshit case.

That is charitable. And there is nothing bad to say about that.

i'm telling you. They/we knew that there was a ton of cash coming in even AFTER all the donations to patients. We even formed a non-profit to distribute the cash legitimately throughout the community and avoid the reservations of some who did not want to accept donations from a collective. They did EVERYTHING they could to not profit while providing meds at a MAXIMUM of $10/g for ANYTHING in the house.
