i made a big error in the soil mix i think, i used 1/3 jiffy peat pucks(expanded then dried then crushed up and 2/3 some miracle grow soil my mom had in a 2 (rough educated guess) gallon pot and i have been having to give it like 1/2 gallon of water every 3 days at least (i go by the weight method its not that only the top gets dry quick) then again my plant is 3 ft tall and hasnt slowed down the speed of growth since it began to explode w/new growth when it started back up after it switched to 12/12. 4 months vegged and its been flowering for like 6 months already! people keep saying i should just start over but the thing is that its not growing super slow or anything so what should i do?

no i do NOT know. look again at the picture. it IS real. now tell me "what is rootbound"?
these are all different plants and each produced well over a pound of dried buds. in those little pots.

do they look "stunted"?
do they look "stretched"?
do they look "small"?
do they look "watered too often" or not?
do they look "burnt"?
do they look "wilted"?
you can read a "definition" out of a book, but it still doesn't SHOW me what rootbound is.

First let me say that 99% of what I grow is indoors and stays under 4-5 feet.
For cloning I have used nothing but 2 gallon pots for years. Keep in mind that is 2-4 weeks in veg (after being in cloner for 10-14 days) and then 8-10 weeks in flower.
Seeds on the other hand I grow in 3 gallon pots due to being in veg much longer. And no I never put a plant into flowering before they are showing pistils.
Mother plants get put into 5 gallon pots.
In 20 years of growing I have never been root bound using those sized pots.

It's healthy as hell and growing like a weed...
Root bound is a bit of a myth ... I think...
Small roots may keep a plant from becoming a monster... but I think FDD and that pic right there show that if the roots have access to the nutrients it needs...
it will not become rootbound...
That plant is vegging in ebb flow, being fed 12x a day...
and I plan on flowering her next to to her sister... which is in a 19 GALLON pot...
See me in 3 and a half months and we'll compare harvest time yields between the 2...
and here's the big girl in her ebb/flow home.. after a bit of training....

i totally agree. its pretty much useless. i did it and it pretty much fucked it up. also you give it extra nutes huh?at day 33 of flowering i'd say most of your plants energy is focused on producing flowers. if you were to transplant i don't think much effort would be used for new root production. the stress would hamper your cycle, as well.

Ive seen plenty of nice plants in small containers, even shot glass grows.
truly being rootbound would mean there is zero space for the roots to grow. Ive transplanted "rootbound" plants and there is always some soil for them to grow into.
I just use 1 gallon containers, i have a small space and they do fine. need more attention, but i never had a problem.

When you see some roots at around soil level is that bad? I have a 3 week old SW from seed and I can see some roots near the top but she is green as can be and growing fine.
