whats it mean when roots start poping outta the top of the soil. my LA woman has a couple of roots poping outta the top or the soil. its still growing fine and all and shows no signs of problems...the afghan ryder i grew did it 2, but it also grew with no problem. is this a way/sign of the plant wanting more oxygen to the roots? any input ne one. +rep for best answers

i just think that this is normal.. i know that my couple of plants are doing it too.. like when i water them and the soil shifts around some, i can see some roots right at the top of the soil line, and the plant looks very healthy..

hey uh +Rep...what u got growin bro? did u ever think when the roots did that, that the plant has the root exposed outta the dirt just to get more oxygen if it thinks that its not getting enough in the soil?

thats no big deal at all. on every plant if you remove the first 2 inches your gonna find mad roots. just toss some dirt over em.

Hey,

You probably already know that roots go where the water is. So it sounds like you have a lot of moisture near the top. Adding dry soil is one cure. However, you might also want to look at how you are watering. When you water, do you soak the plants and let the water drain till it flows out from the bottom? Have you been letting the soil get very dry, which can cause air pockets or cracks? And do you ever water from below?
