root questions in dwc

i was just wondering why i get small roots braking off and floating around in the res

i know for a fact 100% i dont have and pretty much never get root rot

i do keep my res temps in the high range 23c lights on and 19 ish when lights are off and i dont use a ridiculous amount of air. only two lone fish tank air pump so its not too strong

i am now on my 6th dwc grow so i am not 100% a nood at it and i see this small broken roots every time i grow. so now i want to know is it normal or not

I would say its not normal, I don't recall ever seeing broken roots but if you get good results I wouldn't sweat it.

The more air you can provide is imperative. Your seeing dying root tips, probably because of lack of O2.
Water temp is important because the warmer the water, the less O2 it holds, so that is why you need to supplement the water with bubbles.
Add more air.

Oxygen to the roots is required but too much compressed air will heat up the water and that is not good. So it's about balance unless you have a chiller and can offset the added heat.

hmm fair calls. yes plants are happy 90% of the time unless i over feed. maybe it is because my res run abit warm and wants more Oxygen. i will try add more.
i was thinking of getting a chiller but ive only seen ones that use allot of electricity and i try keep my grows under 400watts. most chillers use more then my entire grow. from what i have seen.
i have not really googled them much. is there and chillers that use less them 100watts that are not shit ??. id imagine no but im often wrong haha
i also only do single res im not in to the recirculating game.
is it even worth adding a chiller to a single res ??
i would need two. one for veg and one for flower or do people on chill the res in flower ??

You may get away with a peltier cooler with such a small water volume. Coolworks Ice probe makes a 50 w version I think someone posted a 65 watter from another maker.

i was looking at making one of them that runs of 12 v. i have seen a few builds on youtube that looked interesting

would you drill a hole at the bottom of your res on the side then put the cold probe though with a water tight rubber ring

All peltiers work on DC. The ICE Probe uses a power supply to make the DC voltage from the AC power.

I would put the hole on the side. Needs to be pretty flat.

for now i will go with just adding a second air pump but i will look in to one of them peltier cooler. i wounder if you could connect one of them to a temp true controller. i dont grow over summer so maybe one of them will allow me to

Is it possible to attach the probe directly to DWC Bucket without leaks ?
