Root Riot or Rockwool

hi im a hydroponic grower and start my seedlings/cuttings off in rockwool cubes but have been told root riot cubes are better, any one no why ? and can you put these small cubes ones roots are showing in to bigger rockwool cubes so i can put them in my hydroponic nft trays ?

Did u put it in the rockwool? Did it work

looks to me its about the same thing as RW just more expensive.. and even the packages include rooting gel, so it cant be much better than RW if they both need hormones to get the roots poppin

I use root riot cubes for clones then transplant to 3 inch rockwools done this for years with no probs

i was wondering what root riots were too, here they are called "rapid rooters" i absolutely love them. You dont need to soak them in ph balanced water unlike rockwool. Only if they made the bigger cubes, that would be solid.. but nice to c someone has used them with the rockwool cubes.. was wondering the same thing. where i get them, they are more expensive yes, but i feel they work better. More roots sooner. Never actually compared tho.

I use both. But RW for hydro and rapid rooters for soil. I don't like putting any soil based products with hydro.

$25 at the hydro store, comes with a package of Clonex rooting gel and a dome. It was a cool deal it has everything I got it about 2 months ago. 34 out of 50 are alive and kicking due to my novice rooting experience. Dont over wter them like I did, dont need to put water in those holes to the top. Just spray the cubes wet and the dome and the leaves and let them breath by opening the dome 15 min 1-2 x a day until they are bigger and give them more air. I screwed up on the cutting angle and over watering but other than that it works and got alot for a $25 package.

Riot cubes are better. Use them with clonex.

Ive used both methods i find they dont dry out as quick as rockwools and i always personally had better results with root riots, plus like you say straight out the bag no pre soaking.

Cant whack the old riot cubes.
