Clones need at least some form of ambient light, T-5's work great. I assume rooting in the dark would trigger flowering, and possibly stress it enough to herm later in it's life, if it is possible to clone in the dark.

My kandy Kush does take alittle longer in root riot too. I think it's the strain through cause everything I clone does good, some better than others. I use 1/2 oz of voodoo juice to a gallon of water and it works excellent. Make sure ph is 5.5 a 5.7. I also use a small woo stick to open the holes alittle to make putting a clone in alittle easier.
I don't dip my clones in clonex, I take a drop and apply it on all the holes then take my cutting and place it in the cube. Works great every time

Nope the lights stay on 24/7 I dont have them in direct light though. Just sitting in a room thats lit up with my vegging mothers and daughters.
Clonex I dont have a complete failure with clones : ) Trying a less messier method and less energy method was kinda of attractive. Also, I would like to hit 100% most of the time. But Im finding out running 3-5 different strains in my cloner at a time they all dont want to root at the same time like I assumed.
Aero for now is still my perferred method but I will play with root riots now and might even go out harry's today splurge on a 100 pack and get to hackin.....

Woodsman's Bucket Trick
Alright, this is simply the best damn method I have ever used.
Flip the cubes over (as described previously), and poke a rod (pencil or similar, etc) through to the factory made hole. Now push the clones stem through the hole at the round end first, so that it ends up flush with the flat surface on the other side. Then place the cube'd clone on the bottom of a CLEAN!!! white 5 gal bucket with about an 1/8 inch of ph'd water containing a bit of H2O2. (ratio for 3% / 1 oz per gal, 29% / 1ml / gal ) The peroxide makes all the difference. Spray the clones with the same solution to prevent mold/mildew (this can be repeated throughout the process of rooting in areas where there is concerns of molds/mildews). For 6 - 8" about 10 - 15 clones work well. Finally place a #12 plastic run off tray (made for potted plants to set on, 20 cents or so each in most stores). in the top as a lid. The #12's fit snug and make a seal. This keeps things out, keeps moisture in, and allows light through. The white 5 gal buckets fit well on shelves and in rows. They house them securely, and have handles for easy transport. Its stupid simple, and works like a dream.
Change out the water each day or two. Burp the Buckets daily. To change the water easily, drill a hole in the bottom of the bucket. Then set it in another plastic tray of the same H2o2 solution. When you are ready to change the water, pick up the bucket and let the water drain out the hole. Empty the tray, refill it, and set the bucket back down on the tray and let it fill back up to the same level. Repeat as needed. In a week or so you will have bare white fuzzy roots bursting out everywhere like a porcupine, and many will emerge from above the cube directly out of the stem from the high humidity. Blowing into the bucket a few times couldn't hurt, and is part of my practice despite practicality .

I use the Root Riot plugs following Subcool's cloning tutorial. Insanely simple, and seem to get 100% rooted in less than 10 days.
This method is functionally the same as Woodsman's method above, but uses clear plastic shoe boxes instead of the bucket. I actually just use a clone tray and humidity dome. They all work.

rockwool cubes work for me. and you guys are kinda right i have 3 Holy Grail Kush growing right now and they are sure taking their sweet time rooting.
speaking of cannalope kush check mine out i have one at just under 2 feet. just cloned it gunna take more clones soon

We use both Brands- work great with a nice tray & dome... don't let the water be too deep in the tray, just barely touching the bottoms... and keep the whole thing warm enough-- if the dome doesn't fog-up with condensation, it's too cold!!
We use Clonex gel for the cuttings- and Filtered water with Clonex solution in it. Just rooted 20 cutting... the 1st 6 were fully rooted in 5 days.. the next batch in 9, the slow-pokes come out in the morning (though totally rooted- I just need more planters!) and its been 12 days total!

I just wanted to update everyone on some of my experiences with Root Riot cubes. I didn't have great sucess starting seeds in them, but that may have been due to extremely high temps for a few days.
Now that the plants have matured, one difference I am noticing between Root Riot plants and Non-Root Riot plants is that the Root Riot plants show symptoms of overwatering for a few days after every watering. What I think is happening is the cube is becoming saturated in the soil and not drying out or dispersing. I don't think I am going to use Root Riots again, just haven't had good experiences with them.
