Root rot below water line.!.!.!?

I have a plant in a five gallon bucket with an air stone. I switched shortly to a 3.5 gal bucket and was only using 2 gal to cut back on cost of nutes. But I developed some root rot below the water line and I thought it was because of water temp, so I switched back to the 5gal. Was running 3gal then I noticed it again below water line. On new roots. Now I'm flushing.....any help any one can offer me not sure what to do?

H2o2 will be your friend in hydro.

Cut off anything rotted. Change water out and add fresh nutes at 1/2 strength until you see new healthy roots and an improvement. Lots of bubbles, keep Temps under 70 if you can.

I use the cheap 3% h2o2 at 5ml a gallon for maintenance, but for root rot I'd suggest 10ml per gallon, possibly more. Do a search for h2o2 root rot dunk

so I switched water last night and man she looks good this morning no yellowing on the leaves and good green consistency. and all the roots are pearly white. all I did was lessen the water level a half gal. so I could get a lil more o2 in the water, balanced it at 6.2, added a drop of superthirve a quart plus some cal mag and some root propagator. today I think ill put a frozen bottle in to help regulate temp. thank you so much the last time I had this problem I had to clip my big root of glad I didn't have to this time...we'll see. this baby is just 27 days from seed I'm pretty happy...check her out...this is a 8 inch pot;)

Bubble buckets and RDWC share many features- and flaws.

Getting the water temp in your bubble bucket below 66f for at least one hour a day while aerating the water vigorously will all but guarantee that beneficial aerobic bacteria will win the balance of power battle in the water.

I've seen my water temps climb to 75 in the daytime- but if it saw 66 anytime in the previous 24 hours, I knew it would be fine. Thus, I'm not as concerned about average RDWC temps as I am about getting a good cool in there at least once daily.

This will take more power than you might think, so try different options and take careful notes, keeping in mind that the thermometer itself will take a few minutes to register temperature changes.

Aerating vigorously includes splashing, flooming and waterfalls- airstones suck and should not be used for this purpose. I recommend a very small water pump for a single tub, something not bigger than 264gph, to create a waterfall; that is, let the water coming from the pump fall back from above the waterline. This agitates, mixes, churns and of course aerates the water far better than a bubbling rock.

That's awesome, glad they are doing much better!

I find that a lower pH of 5.8 works better in bubble buckets, have you tried lowering the ph?
