Root rot during flowering

This is my first grow ever. I bought an all in one grow kit thinking it would make things easier. The problem (I think) is the medium, It consists of a cocoa/soil mix on the top 3/4 of the pot and a super soil in the bottom 1/4 and I think the super soil takes longer to dry. I've been watering when the pot felt light but I don't think the soil on the bottom dried out enough between watering (every 2 days) over the past few weeks. The reason I think it's root rot is because I lifted the pot the other day and and got a whiff of a bad odor. They are about 4 weeks into flower and starting to look a little worse every day.

I plan on letting them continue just to see what happens but do you think this is root rot?

Most likely root rot. Smells like rotten vegetation.

Put a riser under the pot so it can breathe.

Personally I would use a product with an enzyme which breaks down dead root matter. Hygrozyme is one.

Although saying that I’ve had plants recover rot (only a little) that didn’t have any enzyme just let the media dry out sufficiently.

Good luck
