I was thinking the same thing waterdawg! I had a hell of a time cleaning 12 gallons of it last run of 6 pots, this run I'll be doing 9 pots so I had to brain storm. The lids were 2$and the net pot was $1, problem solved I think! I lucked out finding a lid that actually fits and locks ttight on the bucket as well. Only problem I can think of is heat at the root zone. Does all that hydroton keep the roots cooler compared to suspended roots in air? I think I would have to flood more often as well but II think flooding more would often might be beneficial? Not sure though. I think this might work out great (I hope lol)Should be fine! Flood and drain in a pail basically. And less hydroton to clean...yay!!!
Not sure about temps. I flood continuously and the roots are flooded. I keep the res at or below 70 if possible. Just about to design a new system using misting for one and spray for another.I was thinking the same thing waterdawg!
