I'm sure I am not knowledgeable to help but more details and pics will probably help others give advise.

Low ppm water with some hydrgen peroxide (5-10 ml per liter for the pharmacy brand 3% solution) would help kill anything causing root rot and provide a little extra oxygen to the roots. It will also help flush the roots in case they have been overfed. As scotch mentioned a pic of the roots might help some of the docs give you a better answer.

If you have root rot, don't use hydrogen peroxide, it doesn't work long term. If you don't have anything else, it will definitely help with root rot, but only for a day or so. You will need to keep adding more pretty much every day to keep the root rot at bay using hydrogen peroxide. It's much easier and more effective to buy some SM-90 (it's really cheap, buy it at a hydro store) and add about a teaspoon per gallon to your res water. It will keep your system clean for about a week, and you should be changing your res water once a week anyway. I have completely cured plants of root rot with SM-90 and been ale to smoke the rewards. I also hear that Aquashield works well too though I haven't used it myself. Please posts pics of the plants and the roots if possible!
