If you're going to clone a plant, you'll need some sort of rooting hormone, whether it be a powder, gel, or homemade from willow cuttings. There's got to be something to trigger the rooting process.

I use the wal-mart brand ( i believe it's schultz) It comes in a orangish-red looking little container. That stuff does the trick. Very small.

Yes, I use Schultz as well-- but I get it at Home Depot. It's not the fastest rooting hormone but it appears to be reliable thus far.

Simple homemade solution, one generic non-coated aspirin per 4 cups of water. Or steep 1 cup chopped willow bark in hot water (like a tea) let cool before placing cuttings in. Both are very effective but rooting can also take place in just a glass of water that has an air stone placed in the bottom and change the water every three days with room temp water. I use dip"N"grow for plants that do not clone easy.

Sounds conceited.....but I think I'm so good at cloning I could clone inanimate objects.

Salicylic acid is the chemical compound with the formula C6H4(OH)CO2H, where the OH group is adjacent to the carboxyl group. This colorless crystalline organic acid is widely used in organic synthesis and functions as a plant hormone. It is probably best known as a compound that is chemically similar but not identical to the active component of aspirin. The name derives from the Latin word for the willow tree (Salix), from whose bark it can be obtained.

I use the stuff but my Grandmother could take cuttings from anything and make them grow in a glass of water and aspirin.
I think the compounds just help the process.:peace:

Shultz is very cheap, around $4 at WM. Take my advice and while you are there, look at their tupperware and pick up a big enough one to work as a mini-greenhouse. Turn it upside down and use the clear plastic as your "dome'' and the lid as the base of the dome. These are very cheap too. Remember to mist a couple times a day. Good luck.
