roots and pots?

well i have some decent size pots and big ass roots are bursting out of the bottom. litterally they broke threw the pot even though i had holes haha. wtf? am goin to have to buy even bigger pots now.. or is it goin to be alright without? Any info about roots would be much appreciated.

the general rule of thumb is one gallon of pot per foot of plant to keep from getting rootbound.

That is the rule. I have a 3 foot plant in about a qt of soil. it's a pain but it works. I think alot has to with how you water.

i have them in 10.25". i thought this would be enough..i guess not?
