Roots Exposed

Hey everyone...First time growing and just had a quick question. I transplanted my plants into 3 gal phat sacks and after the transplant shock they exploded with growth and look great. I don't know if this is a problem but I just figured I'd ask, the roots extended out so much that they are now coming through the bottom of my phat sacks and are just kind of on the floor of the tent. Will this lead to any problems down the line and is there something I should do about this?
Thanks

If the plant seems healthy I think youre good. You may want to pot up. This is pretty much the same as what smart pots do. They allow the roots to grow outside the pot. The exposed roots will then dry up and "air prune" themselves which stimulates lateral root growth so this may be beneficial for your overall root mass. Can you post a picture?

Here it is. As long as that sitting on the Mylar doesn't matter i'm happy...I'm guessing there will be a lot more growing I just didn't know if it would rot the roots or anything like that.

That is perfectly normal like everyone else said. All I use is fabric pots and this is a everyday thing.

if it bothers you try not to leave cloth pots sitting in runoff
It's not that it bothers me at all...like I said this is my first grow and I know I read that you shouldn't have light hitting the roots when you transplant them so I just wanted to make sure everything was ok with the roots growing out like this. I posted other pictures on another thread about how the tips of the leafs are turning a little yellow and also I may have possible powdery mildew spots on a few leafs and I just wanted to make sure that the tips of the leafs had nothing to do with the exposed roots. Other then that the plants look great and are starting to have a bunch of pistols shoot out now.

First off, you should get your pots up off the ground. I have mine on grating in Rubbermaid totes. Helps to dry them out, and you'll get the air pruning from underneath too. If your pot is just sitting on your tent floor, it's more then moist enough for your roots to keep growing, and it's making your tent dirty/ could be contributing to your PM.

You saying it's having a bunch of pistils shooting out leads me to believe your only a week or 2 into flowering. And if you already have PM, I'd just start over. It's a losing battle.

If your only a couple weeks in, I'd suggest re vegging them and treating the PM before you flower.

Yep...this occurs all the time with plants that have no where for the roots to go. Well, they have to go somewhere. You should go to the "solo contest" thread and ask that question. Several of the EXPERTS (lol) there seem to believe that it's impossible for that to happen. You will be ok. What I do is cut the root and leave enough to stick it back inward. You will be just fine there bro. Peace...

Ya i'm 9 days into flowering so there isn't any buds yet...I was planning on spraying them with something to get rid of it because it is small and on maybe 10-12 leaves between all six plants. I would rather not start over at this point. I've had what I think is mold for like 14-18 days now and it hasn't spread at all or gotten any worse so i'm not even sure if it is mold anyways...here is a picture.

yellow leaf tips humm are you over watering her
if you got PM brttrt get rid of it
I haven't been over watering if anything I feel like I have been under watering just out of the concern that I might over water. Here is a picture of the yellow tips...I know with the HPS light it's going to look yellow anyways but this is just to show the color difference in the leaf.

I haven't checked the soil PH in a few weeks maybe ill do that today. So what I think is powder mildew is on that picture...There are a handful of leaves on all the plants combined with it but it looks the same as that always. Its a few spots on the outside of the leaves towards the tips of the leaf. It's been that way for a couple weeks now and it hasnt spread much if at all. The lower leaves are all dying now so I have no clue whats going on.

If you have PM issues invest in a better or add another FAN
Ya my fans I think are fine its more just getting rid of what already happened...I shut my exhaust fan off while I was sleeping thinking that the fan helped to cool the tent while the lights were on but didn't realize it would effect humidity so much over night while it was off. Since it happened I keep the fan exhaust fan on 24 hours a day and have a fan inside on 24 hours a day. I just need to take care of the few spots on the leaves now before the buds come in.

Sounds like you are right on top of the problem bro. Glad to hear that you are running 24/7 air in and out! Get some GreenCure and it will solve many of those problems. You can order it online at http://www.seedgarden.com if it's not at your local store. Just make sure that white powder isn't pollen (lol). Rock on!
