roots growing out of pots

hi, I am growing 4 plants in coco in 6l square pots. It is canna coco pro and about 1 inch of clay pebbles on the bottom. Plants are 15 day old. I was going to flower them small inn the same pots, but now I can see some roots coming out of drain holes. should I transplant to bigger pots (it would be a problem due to space) or can I live it as it is? thanks in advance

You'd be doing your yield a disservice by not transplanting. Smart Pots claim to air prune your roots when they reach the sides of the container. So instead of circling the container, they should create more root tips in other directions. That won't stop the plant from having the potential to outgrow the container. If you are limited by vertical height you can do some kind of training to keep them on the shorter side.

vertical space is not a problem. floor area is tight. 20 cm pots is all I can get in there. I was thinking to try and find taller pots, but I am not sure if it will solve the problem if they are not wider.

any extra space is good. square containers maximize space most efficiently. some use a square pail cut in half in a tight spot.

You can also do a small bed of coco. And maximize your space for roots. Square pots work nicely as well for individual care of plants in tightly packed rooms.

Transplant and contain the roots. If you don't they will creep out of the grow pots, reach down the hall way at night and find you fast asleep in your bed.

I heard one time a couple went to bed and woke up just in time as the roots had them so entwined they had to cut their way out. Marijuana roots are evil, keep an eye on them or they will get you.
