I know rosin presses have a little return with the benefit of having no solvent for extraction. But im getting like no return off of 7-8 grams. Using 25 micron bags on grinded up buds, not sure if 25 micron is too fine or my technique is just terrible. I got it for free and was just wondering if anyone had some tips
 
Proper humidity is key for squishing the buds, among other things.

I also pre press my buds into a block before I squeeze them with the press. If they are too dry I found out you won't get return

Try a boveda or Integra pack to re humidity the budsthen press

The buds im using are chopped from my last grow, been in breathable bags with 62% bovedas sitting at around 61% RH in the bag according to my hygrometer

Try just a double layer of good parchment paper. Or dry sift. Wash if you have excess. Hash it not the same. But all I crave with a press and the choices to go with it. Press the hash into bars. Easy and stable after the hash getting part. LOL.
 
For flower I use a 120 micron bag, press into a block, pre-heat block in the press for a couple of minutes. When the temp is 190f or higher I start to apply pressure, give it about 30 seconds apply more pressure....repeat till flow stops.

Remember if you're using crap you'll get crap. Trim or popcorn bud, for example won't give you much.
What I'm pressing now if from plants that got hit by PM & thrips, so quality of weed isn't great & neither is the amount of rosin I get.

Full nugs, didnt turn out with the taste i wanted. But ive been using i think 25 micron which seems very fine to me unless i have like blended up weed. Got the press for free i ordered some larger bags that are otw

Don't grind the bud...remove any harsh stems which may tear the bags.
That micron size is for pressing kief or hash.
You want 90 micron minimum, if it's sticky fresh, 160...in between is 120...a good catchall.
As stated, start sloooooow, let that material and bag warm up, then slowly apply pressure.
Bottle tech bag style works incredibly well with flower.
Pack no more than 4 g per puck, make 2 pucks( if your platens are large enough)
Put pressure in slow stages...500lbs at a time, then let sit for 20 sec or so, increase and so on until you hit your desired pressure(strain and age related), hold until no more runs.

When you press, higher temps will give more yield, but as well the material will be more gooey...
Less temperature, less yield but higher quality material.

I was just about to ask how it looks so pretty light gold, people say the darker stuff has more chlorophyll? Dont know if its true it just never tastes as good lol
 
More impurities and higher temps give me darker things. I do mix almost all my grades together. It is a taste thing. Need to experiment till you're happy.
