Rosin pressing

Hey guys just got my first press and I wondering, with pressing rosin are the returns corralated to the quality of the flower. Or no matter how good the flower it's unlikely to get passed let's say 30%. Would the difference may lay in the quality of the rosin?
 
thank you guys just got my press today. I have some moist flower I'm going to play around with, I want to learn and experiment with different humidity and qualify of flower just to see the different results.
 
It's all different between strains, how dry or not starting material is, temps/time you press at, if you are using filter bags and at what micron size, how well you pack the bag for even consistency so rosin doesn't get caught in the middle of the bag and not push out onto the parchment. Also if you do a second press with a little more heat to get out the last bits will get you more return, but it's not quite as nice of rosin as that first glorious press.

How do you do the fresh frozen jjg? You chop the plant and instead of drying/curing you just toss it right into the freezer? Do you go directly from freezer to press then?
 
Ah that's what I thought. I have bubble bags and a washer machine thing I got to use for trim last grow and it was more work than the trim was worth to get started and I needed freezer space so I never got to it. Pressing cured flower that's held at a good RH with boveda packs has been the best route.

It's really all strain dependent, has alot to do with the qualities of the trichomes, water content, terpene content, etc. Some strains will just yield like absolute shit even if they are grown extremely well...tangie being an example. I had a sour diesel cut that would dump beautiful golden oil even if the material was on the older side.
There's alot of variables to play with, for example pressing at lower temps like 175f for longer periods vs doing short presses at 210f can yield different qualities of rosin.

Max yield you'll get pressing flower is around 20-25%.

Thanks. I started pressing and yielded like close to 15% the flower is to wet and I can see a slight green hue so I'm going to try again once it dries a little more and I cure it.
